- And Their Fear Followed 6s Paralyze -> 4s
- this also feels like overnerf. It's hard to justify taking cc with such low durations unless they have huge bonus to accuracy.
Paralysis is a tier-3 affliction that Chanters gain access to (with a large cone AoE) early on in the game. A high-INT Skald could keep entire groups of enemies perma-paralyzed. I nerfed it personally a couple of days after the game's release (lowered the cone AoE, and reduced the duration to 3s). The invocation (in its current state) is still way too powerful for such a cheap low-level ability.

"Figurine Items are now charged items with an additional limit of 1/Rest use"
Why do the have charges? It's a single player game, surely a nerf like this doesn't need to happen?
One approach encourages mindless spamming, whereas the other encourages careful planning. Which of these do you find preferable?
Figurines were OP. If it's just a 'single-player game', and you don't mind overpowered items/abilities, then just use the Unity console mod and cheat like your life depends on it.

You're overthinking this. Fampyrs use charming gaze, whereas Ancient Fampyrs have access to the dominating variant.
-
I think of the Gurdian as the final boss fight, while the 'final' encounter is sort of an epilogue in term of combat - basically, something you simply swat away as you reach the end.

Greetings,Thank you for taking the time and notifying us regarding this issue I do believe this to be fixed in the most recent patch 1.1. Should you have any additional questions let us know!Cheers.
It's not fixed. It's strange that your log shows multiple bugs (this one plus the summon stutter bug) being fixed when they clearly aren't.

Hi Insolentius,
This is logged and should be resolved for patch 1.1.
Thanks,
-Caleb
It hasn't been resolved. Other QA testers and devs have asked the players whether 1.1. fixed the problem, and it hasn't.
-
Thank you, this is great! You fixed my problems in cities (no stutter at all now!) and i experience much less stutter in fights. Any ideas to bring the fight-stutter down as well?
I have a GTX 960M running on a laptop.
Cheers!
No stuttering in Queen's Berth on a GTX 960M?

Hello Ralathar44,
Thank you for the post! Is this issue present in our latest patch 1.1? It should be resolved, so if not please let me know!
Best,
-Caleb
I just tested it (fully updated - Steam version). It affects spells/abilities that summon clones, summoned creatures from figurines and even shape-shifting. Basically, any item or ability that adds a new character/creature to the encounter or modifies an existing character's model will cause the game to freeze for about a second. This only happens the first time such an item or ability is used during a session - however, upon restarting the game, the same problem occurs once again.
-
Just wanted to confirm that 1.1. didn't fix this problem (phantoms still attack with their fists).
-
Is anyone else having this problem? When I hover over an ally or enemy the buff / debuff list I usually don't see everything because the font / images are too large. I have to go to the character screen to truly understand the status, and I can't do that for enemies, so a lot of the times I don't even know what buffs and debuffs I have active.
I agree. It's a very annoying problem, and it really doesn't make any sense considering that Tyranny did an amazing job with their UI direction (with bars indicating the timer and allowing us to 'lock' the enemy tooltip and peruse the buffs/debuffs easily).
-
Also, I'm not exactly sure if it's a bug, but I remember that before the patch I got an achievement for maxing out a relationship (in this case, with Xoti) but she only has a +2.
Relationship scores range between -2 and +2.

That bug (or really badly implemented bad idea), with Alchemy affecting 'Poison' dot spells was pretty scary... a decent score, and you can wipe out most everything with a single Plague of Insects cast
Was that fixed in 1.1?

Of Like Minds is an optional quest in the VTC questline.
-
I don't think this issue was addressed in 1.1. My party is level 19 and I still get destroyed in the Cave of Threshing. Everything else in the game has been easy.
I had trouble with that location on PotD until I decided to craft a 'Meteor Shower' scroll and lure the Fampyrs into its AoE.

I reported a similar problem. I'm not absolutely sure, but I think that they retaliate with 'Dominating Gaze' when interrupted.

Deadfire is very CPU-dependent, but even folks with top of the line i7s are reporting performance issues. There's nothing we can do.
-
I'd like to add that it's impossible for me to advance "Of Like Minds" too, though in my case I have done the quest, but it won't disappear from my journal.
Furrante told me to go to Crookspur on his own, Castol told me to go to Furrante about it after I had already done the Crookspur quest (or well in my case I freed the slaves instead). Castol does acknowledge I've already done it, but the quest doesn't disappear from my journal and still tells me to talk to Furrante. Furrante however has no dialogue for this, not before or after I went to Magran's Teeth.
I have the exact same problem. Anyone know if his is the last quest for the VTC?
It isn't. It's not even relevant to their main quest line.

If the player decides not to blow up the Powder House on VTC line, Maia will still leave party.
What? Shouldn't this be the other way around?

This should be really easy to mod in. Just change the values in...
"Difficulty": "Hard",
"HealthMultiplier": 1,
"AccuracyBonus": 0,
"DefenseBonus": 0,
"ArmorBonus": 0,
"PenetrationBonus": 0,
"LevelMultiplier": 1,
"RecoveryTimeMultiplier": 1,
"DisengagementAccuracyBonus": 0,
"HostileEffectDurationMultiplier": 1- 2

Try letting the game give you a morale penalty for forcing the injured crew member to work. After that, plop him/her back into the reserve slot and they should start healing just fine. Right not, this is the only way to fix the problem.

I did board boats thrice in that period of time - without any weird spiking noted by my MSI afterburner. And I had 28-30 degrees Celsius days here, so hot? You bet!
Liquid cooling? There's no way you're achieving those temps with a stock fan.

For what it's worth, I've measured all of my CPU cores and my GPU for like 10 hours playing Deadfire, on all sorts of maps in-game. Here are the averages and the spikes:
-CPU 1 to 4: 37-45 degrees Celsius in average, worst spike in one CPU core 54 degrees
-GPU: 40-47 in average, worst spike 56 degrees at one time.
Nvidia+Intel, like 3 yrs old PC.
EDIT: High settings on everything.
I guess it also depends on where you live. It's pretty hot here and my CPU is idling at about 32 degrees. Could you get into a big fight by boarding a junk or a galleon and check your temps then?

I see Sacred Immolation still has obscene amount of self damage, when is it gonna be fixed? Nobody wants to use an ability that kills a paladin within seconds.
The ability is called Sacred Immolation for a good reason.

Deadfire isn't a multiplayer game, so every weapon and ability should deal 1,000,000 damage per hit with infinite number of uses per encounter. Why can't I use the same figurine to summon the same creature 20 times in a single encounter? Or 30? Or 50? After all, singleplayer games don't need to be balanced at all, and we can all exercise a certain degree of "self-control" to pretend we're experiencing challenging and interesting combat encounters.
My parents spoiled me when I was a little kid, and I don't know any better than to demand Obsidian to constantly reinforce my narcissistic tendencies and obsession with illusory power without the game or anyone else calling me a cheater!
