  1. as long as you aren't aligned with any faction you can do the following:

do the first quest each faction gives you, this doesnt prevent you from joining another faction but gives you access to their merchant.

I did this on my playthrough but can't remember any huge differences in their item selection, so I'd say you don't miss out on TOO much, but still it is better to do those quests before aligning, since it also gives you more XP

  2. I know this is offtopic as hell, but I figure that a few people around here have (recently) re-played BG1&2 and might be able to answer me this quick question faster than any "dedicated" BG-forum...

Do Jaheira's stats (her Dex increases from 15 to 17 for example) go up if you have her in your party in BG1 and then continue to BG2 (via Baldurs Gate Trilogy)? Also: what if I give her one of the + stat-point tomes in the game?

thanks, and I promise I will answer some more PoE-questions in these forums next^^

  3. Okay that answers my question whether or not the bountys are random, they're not :D

    so to answer your questions:

    - you can return to Defiance Bay

the moment you reach the Twin Elms village....Heartsong or what was it called? the guards there tell you that the riots in Defiance Bay have died down and the city reopened its gates

If you continue collecting bounties, I'd love to get an update from you when you have collected the 2nd round...

is there a 3rd, 4th, 5th round of bounties? Do you always only get coins as a reward (apart from the loot from killing them)

  4. Concerning the Temple of Woedica I can't really help you, have you tried going back there to see if it does anything?

    for 2.+3.

    2. You can strongarm the Guards into letting you in or talk to the person training the new recruits in the Crucible Knights HQ. Either one should make the guard open the doors for you.

    3. The interactive chest: it contains a wicht, the necromancer in the catacombs wants you to open it so it kills the Animancer in the same room, but you don't need to open it in order to advance any quests if you decide to just kill the necromancer instead. The Letters were in the room next to this one (NE from the one with the chest)

  5. I had something like this after returning to Defiance Bay from Twin Elms

I went to the Valian HQ and there were several Leaden Key Assassins there, after a short discussion the HQ Guards and my party were fighting (and killing) the Leaden Key Assassins. Pallegina was still expelled from them though.

concerning being ambushed by the Key elsewhere:

I got ambushed after finishing Kana's quest in the endless dungeon (lvl 8 or 9), when returning to lvl 1 of the dungeon

AND when I reached the lower side of the cliff area, you need to pass through to go to Twin Elms, sorry forgot the name. Maybe this one mentioned Pallegina, not sure, but it could be. Hard to avoid them though, so you should have experienced it as well

  6. But the Belkster is great :D

haven't started yet either, those annoying sounds from the tutorial messages and other minor bugs made me wait with this 2nd playthrough until the patch is available.

(thats also why I havent tested some of the easier to check questions)

@voss: yeah I remember killing a few people in Twin Elms, but then the "new boss" was on my side, so it might be different if I have less of a benefactor.
