  1. I just wanted to let all of you pc users who don't have the game yet to know that it isn't as bad as everyone on these boards is saying it is.  It may be a little buggy but by the time it comes out for pc it will probobly be fine.  You should not be discouraged to buy it.  It's a great game and makes you want to play it nonstop from sstart to finish and it does have the feel of a starwars game...

Agreed. I've now been playing the game for 52+ hours now, first playthrough, and I've encountered framerate drops on occasion, but nothing that could possibly break the game. There are graphical glitches, and there are some minor bugs, but yes, by all means, buy the game and ENJOY it!

  2. Yup, if you help her, and have opened up the trade route on Onderon, IIRC, then eventually (and randomly?), she'll get the Pacifist part for HK-47 -- I believe it's s'oposed to make him fit better for the lightsiders out there......but I haven't installed it yet.  I just got HK-47 running, and I love him how he is, even though I'm LS myself.  But I do want to get some influence going, and not killing everyone in sight isn't gonna win me influence with him......unless he has this part installed.  We'll see.    :p

I installed the thing, talked to him for a couple of minutes and took it right out again. It's a terrible thing to do to an assassin droid. His indignation at having it installed in the first place was pretty amusing.

!! You can take it back out? PERFECT! Pluggin it in tonight! :p

  3. Stop with that bullshat.  We all know that Bioware and Lucas Arts lack the cojones to take such issues in a mature form.  For godsakes, kids see kissing  in PG movies and shows nowadays.

I couldn't agree any more. I would've loved to see Male Revan and Bastila actually kiss in the game, its not like kissing is rude or any thing...I think the black out screen was a little dissappointing.

Unless some lucky PC user can make a mod of the kissing scene or somthing between the male Revan and Bastila that would be extremly cool.

I figured they didn't want to bother to animate the kiss with the various NPCs (although they could've cheated and given every male the same exact mouth for the kiss).....or they wanted to avoid any awkwardness in animation. Could you imagine if it hadn't been left to the imagination and looked like total crap instead? I'll admit I was disappointed, but not too much, since I'd rather have imagine what happened...much like Gabrielle did.

  4. No they freaking can't.  Microsoft has put a ban on patching over the X-Box Live.  MICROSOFT doesn't want to make the X-Box a poor man's PC where it comes to games.  They want their games to be 100% ready to go and by forcing developers and publishers not being able to patch their games on their console.  SHeesh, that has been known for a while now.  They purpose of X-Box live is not to patch games.  The purpose of X-Box live is to allow online gameplay.

SINCE KOTOR2 IS A SINGLE PLAYER THERE IS NO REASON IN MICROSOFT'S EYES TO LET KOTOR2 TO HAVE LIVE ACCESS!

Man, I know more about the X-Box than you do and I don't even own the freaking console.

It's true MS doesn't want gamers to perceive the X as a "poor man's PC" (too late for some!), but devs have left coding in before to allow for patches and mods via Xbox Live. KOTOR had the Yavin Station, DOA3 had the extra costumes, etc. -- all that needs to be done is to include coding to allow for it.

I love my WRPGs, even moreso than JRPGs, but they are never nearly as polished...."

  5. I enjoy getting to know the characters as well, and it was the chracters in the first game that truly made KOTOR enjoyable, imho :)

Here's hoping you enjoy KOTOR2 as much as I am.....you'll find that influence plays a large role, so getting to know the other characters isn't as simple as talking to them everytime you level-up, but how much they like you and what path you have chosen.....and BEWARE OF SPOILERS here!

I haven't been able to restrain myself from looking at these boards, the spoiler forum included :) so not much will suprise me. I'm really looking forward to the character interaction, despite some comments that have been made. I agree that the interaction among NPC's in Kotor was what made the game so great. For me, its the depth of storyline and the personalities/uniqueness of each party member that grabs me. And I don't see open ended stories being a problem, so long as the journey getting there was fascinating and fulfilling.

See, I'm an optimist at heart. :)

Ditto -- it's all about the journey, more than the ending(s)! :)

  6. You can get a patch over XBOX live.  Plus since the game is so bad they should even consider a re-release.  GET A F***IN CLUE.

ok. what happened to you? and are you sure it ain't yer Xbox? I assume the game has some game-breaking glitches/bugs, and that's why you're insane with this all-consuming hate for Obsidian and KOTOR2...... :p

  7. Since I am female, I enjoyed the Carth romance.  I know many people thought he was whiny, but IMO he was really well fleshed out.  Dave Gaider did a great job with him.  The dialogue options were great and he seemed, *real*.

I'm looking forward to playing Kotor 2 when it comes out for pc so I can see how Obsidian have developed their characters.  Since I'm ignoring the criticism on thses boards until I can play it for myself, I for one am optimistic.  It already sounds from comments that Atton will be a hoot.

As for Bastila, I have began a DS male in Kotor and will wait and see how the romance plays out.

I enjoy getting to know the characters as well, and it was the chracters in the first game that truly made KOTOR enjoyable, imho :p

  8. I recently rented these new DVD's of the first 3, and I have to admit, it was kind of embarassing to watch.  The dialog was better than the prequels, and the acting was a better, though sometimes only a little.  The gungans and the ewoks are horrible, but it's Anakin who's acting is the worst.  You always just want to punch him.  The art direction is what has and will make star wars fun.

My girlfriend got the OT for me for Xmas, and I proceeded to watch all 3 last weekend -- still enjoy them! Sure, it's kinda cheesy at times, but I enjoyed Vader more than ever! And I didn't remember Luke being so whiney..... :ermm:

  9. "only because of Jar-Jar lol"

Meh. I agree. Hate that little booger. But, the ewoks beat him because there's so many and Chewbacca is just as bad.

"Too bad the actual line is "no, I am your father".

I have no idea were "Luke, I am your father" line comes from but it certainly not from the movie."

It's been years. Either way, the line is cheesy and makes light of such a dramatic scenario. It's doubly worsen by the fake way Mr. Vader delivers the line. It feels so ungenuine.

It really must be nostalgia that has clouded my judgment, as well as the high expectations for Episodes I, II, and the upcoming III that has made it hard for me to accept TPM or AotC. I would never even dreamed of comparing Jar-Jar to Chewbacca -- maybe the Ewoks, but Chewie?? Wookies kick ass, imho.

And sure, the dialogue ain't the best, but James Earl Jones is the Man.

  10. I did the mission for the female rodian to open up trade routes, which resulted in me buying a HK-47 pacifist part, if I bought this before fixing HX-47 would I have been able to install it, would it gave HK-47 any extra options or dialogue etc.

Wow, I never got this quest. You're talking about the female Rodian on Nar Shadda, right?

    - dr cloak

Yup, if you help her, and have opened up the trade route on Onderon, IIRC, then eventually (and randomly?), she'll get the Pacifist part for HK-47 -- I believe it's s'oposed to make him fit better for the lightsiders out there......but I haven't installed it yet. 11. I like Kotor and K2 the same. Both have their pros and cons but they are equal in my regards.

Exactly. Even with the original Trilogy, I couldn't say which I like best -- I like watching them and taking them in as a whole. And with KOTOR2, it's impact is greater if you experienced the first, and vice versa, imho.

  12. KotOR story flowed very smooth and had a Climatic ending complete with cut

So seeing people standing around, and doing nothing constitutes a solid cut scene movie? KOTOR:1 had no real ending to speak of.

Once the bad guy was defeated, you don't discover anything new. There is no epilogue. And the dark side movie shows Bastilla there after you kill her. Some ending.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I seriously don't understand what is good about the KOTOR ending.

    Agreed!!

  13. well, when I played KOTOR the first time, I was male, and roleplayed as "myself" in a sense -- I was a neutral/lightsider, and romanced Bastilla.

The second playthrough, I removed myself and roleplayed as an ultra-evil female Revan, and although I had grown to enjoy the company of my party and their character, I seemed to enjoy the roleplaying she provided, but didn't romance Carth (killed Dustil -- oops). I couldn't bring Zalbaar to kill Mission, as it made me feel too guilty, so I killed them both, personally. The impression left by this playthrough was so profound and engrossing that it was used as the template for KOTOR2's first playthrough, which I'm still working on.

in KOTOR2, I'm a lightsider senitnel/Jedi Master male, as myself, and I'm actually enjoying it more than I did in the last game! I shall definitely be playing darksider female next game, but right now, I'm really enjoying doing what feels natural.....Revan will be that original male lightsider in the second play.

  14. hmmm.....then it should trigger soon.  try heading back to the Ebon Hawk and see if it triggers then -- I was invited upon leaving the Promenade.....

I've done that a couple of times, but still, nothing happens. Is it because of Visas being in my party so early on that I have encountered this, or do I just need to run around some more and hope for the best?

I'm surprised the Red Eclipse hasn't come for you, since the Exchange wants you....have you tried leaving and coming back? I'm also wondering if it's a hardware issue, since your previous disc seemed to have so many issues. Besides this, has the game acted up in other ways? The most I've experienced in my copy (45+ hours now) is a framerate drop to zero, once, and occasionally minor graphical glitches. I'd say make the rounds around Nar Shaddaa one more time, especially if you've done everything, and hope for the best -- I hope you get the invite soon!

  15. I think Mira had the most interesting relationship with my Male PC.

She tells you she's not interested because she doesn't want to have to beat up the other girls to prove she's leader of the pack but then she goes on to tell you how good your body is.. then a few times in and out of the ebon hawk later I get a cut scene with her telling the other girls about how my PC is her bounty and they shouldn't mess with that and how the right way to catch a man goes. I wont say much but it involved using stun cuffs. anyway... later when I choose her to lead the alternate party on Duxn she was very clear to point out ot my PC that he was still her "bounty" and she was coming back for him. (notice this was well after the exchange had been delt with thus removing any payable bounty.) also there was the comment in the vision of her future where Kreia tells you how much Mira Missed you and how she thought of you all the time.

It wasn't the traditional romance persay but I think it was abit more fun than the other ones.. Though I didn't get much out of handmaiden beyond training her as a a jedi.. Maybe Because I hit On Mira. Who knows.

so there IS a chance!

  16. It is my personal opinion that Obsidian Entertainment has done a really crappy job in terms of quality control on Knights of the Old Republic II. If they make a KotOR III, I want BioWare to do it, if only to reduce the number of bugs. I got my second disk from GameStop the other day after I exchanged my first one because workbenches weren't working, I couldn't talk to people, conversation elements that should've come up weren't, and blackouts.

So, I get my new disk, and am overall very satisfied until I go to Nar Shaddaa (my first planet other than Peragus or Telos). I do everything that is supposed to make the Exchange mad at me, save the "seeking passage" quest. I even paid that squeeky rodent NPC in the entertainment promenade 2000 of my credits to tell the Exchange how much I don't like them.

The lizard-heads (I think they're called Trandoshans, but I'm not sure) haven't taken over my ship yet, and I haven't been contacted by the Exchange, and I'm starting to get really frustrated just running around doing nothing. I've only saved in one slot, so I can't go back before I hit this planet. After my expieriences with the first disk, to get 16 hours into the next and have to restart would really dampen my enthusiasm.

It should also be noted that throughout this entire expierience (on Nar Shaddaa) I have had Visas Marr with me. I went back on to the Ebon Hawk shortly after touching down, and my character automatically sought her out. I read earler that if you get her before the Red Eclipse boards your ship then it makes it so that the plot dosen't advance.

I have the Prima guide right next to me, and according to it I should be done and gone with this place by now.

What's wrong? Is there anything I can do to advance the plot, or do I have to start over and forget about Visas until after Nar Shaddaa?

talk to the rat-bat again -- does he say the Exchange wants yer head on a stick? If not, you may have to do more....I got Visas before Nar Shaddaa, as I went to Onderon first. good luck!
