The other and foremost problem is a truly terrible ending and for that I am refering to Sudeki. I enjoyed the game it was fun as it is but that had to be one of the worst endings I have ever seen. (Not talking boss fight just the ending movie.) It was basically you won and things were as they were meant to be yet they showed nothing of anything different just that little story ending. I would have liked to see the characters and least living life in peace as you see in most rpgs.
If you didn't like Sudeki's ending just wait until you see TSL's ending.

Cheers!
I refuse to believe that -- the problem with SUDEKI was that there was no endgame sequence where there easily could have been, but more than that, it was assumed character development happened (?!), when in fact you never cared for the characters (but perhaps wanted to). The ending FMV was ok in my book -- but the journey as a whole wasn't memorable.
I already dig the characters in this game, so that alone is making the journey an excellent ride. I didn't particularly dig the LS ending in KOTOR1, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the game a full second time through, and starting a 3rd and 4th. I guess we'll see how it all pans out....

I am new as a member to the forums even though I have been looking around for some time. While I have yet to play Kotor2 I have to say even if it is buggy and the ending isn't as good as I hope I am sure I will love the game. If you look at it honestly most X-box Rpgs have one of two problems, (My opinion only some may thing different.) the first and foremost is that most are just way too short X-Men Legends was a fun one but could be beat with little effort. Fable was an awesome game for the time you play it but you could start and finish it within 10 hours or less.

Looking at Kotor and probably Kotor2 of course they will have their bugs but they give you more freedom and more gameplay then any rpg I have seen for X-box.(Some might argue that point.) Perhaps it was rushed we wont really know if it had been better waiting or not I just look forward to playing it and appreciate all the work I know Obsidian has put into it. Even if it doesn't meet my expectations I fully expect it to pass up any rpg I have played on the x-box. I do not say this to downtalk the ones frustrated as I can understand but I seriously think we should give the developers more credit it took from the old and added to the story made it more choice friendly. In Kotor you were led by the nose while done in a great way I look forward to a bit more freedom with my character and just general plot points. Thank you for those who read this and post any comments you might have will gladly read them. (I know should have broke this up in more paragraphs but wanted it all together lol.)
gawd, I totally agree about length (FABLE) and endgame (or lack thereof) in SUDEKI (I liked Climax's ideas for combat, and enjoyed the graphics too, but talk about rushed).....but I love KOTOR II, and can't get enough. I'm not disappointed at all, and in fact, overjoyed to be honest. It's not perfect, but I don't care -- it's FUN, and I definitely expect to play it multiple times, and for many hours.

memorable characters, definitely.

I believe it's called "pulling a Bindo".

When you leave the Irrigation Station on Telos, she stows away. Try to get her to teach you Echani fighting techniques, you'll love her costume.
lol -- we remained in "ritual clothing" until the next stop!

the framerate definitely dips, but I've encountered no freezes, black screens, etc. The only glitch encountered so far is when I queue up attacks and the pathfinding is a bit off (instead of doing what I say, they charge head-first into battle) -- that's happened twice in the 20+ hours I've played
-
In reality neither the endings from KOTOR were good or satisfactory.
LS: What happened between you and Bastila?
DS: It was nice seeing all te ships around the SF but only 10 soldiers to salute you? and WHO gave Bastila the right to make all the anouncements????
or hell, Why is she there, for those that killed her in mortal combat, but went with the LS ending? I didn't kill her in any of my plays through, but I know others did, and were kinda confused when she's in the ending sequence regardless -- maybe it was her super-imposed ghost? ;p
It would have been great for a more thorough ending sequence, but seriously, the journey is so well done.

of course! I got it on Day 1 for Xbox, being a fan of the first -- in fact, the original is currently my favorite RPG to-date. Anyway, I have not had the game-breaking technical issues others have had, at about 20+ hours into the game on Difficult. Sure, the game could have used more polish, but as is, I can't play it enough. My only gripe is that the loading screens are still long enough to suck, but that seemed more of a problem near the beginning....
-
Well, I hope they get the PC version right. And the first patch better contain a revised/revamped ending. Obsidian should be ashamed of themselves. I'm venturing to say the ending sequence took them around a half hour of work.

am I the only one who thought the same thing about KOTOR1's lightside ending? I know it was reminiscient of Episode IV, but it felt like a quickie to me. I liked the darkside ending better, but it wasn't the best. ending. evar. either. However, the journey made and characters developed made the game my absolute favorite. I'm finding the characters in this game just as compelling.

I think this game is my GotY -- for real.
-
KotOR should be like the FF series except for it should be in english and the storyline SHOULD have continuity. One more thing, no scantily clad females running around.
....unless you're sparring with them on the Ebon Hawk (and it's a ritual thang)!

heh, Can't pull myself away from KOTOR2 even for a second, so nope, haven't played this demo yet!

I just beat the game on DS and all I can say is the game was rushed in a big way. The story seems rushed in the sense its not fleshed out in the end the way it should be, the game/game play is really buggy, and sports one of the worst endings I have ever seen period. When I saw the ending I thought to myself I spent 40+ hours of my life playing this game for that?
TSL starts strong but sadly the rush job factor catches up with it. A lot of the time I was playing through the game saying to myself this would have been so much better if they just spent a little more time tweaking this or that. This game could have been better than K1 on so many levels but sadly due to its unfinished state it falls well short of that goal. TSL is a squandered opportunity for greatness that only required a little more development time. I doubt I will even play through the game a second time because I really don't wanna deal with the crashes and the other BS only to see another lack luster ending.
P.S. Darth Nihilus??? WTF! I never thought there would be a Sith character who was worse than Darth Maul. Sadly I Guess I was wrong.
Cheers!
I thought the original KOTOR had a horrible ending (light side), even though it was a shout-out to Episode IV. Too short, and meh. But that didn't stop me from playing through the game again, and getting the much more satisfying DS ending. But that ending wasn't all that great either -- it was definitely the journey, for me.

The devs here have expressed their interest in making "Knights of the New Republic"
I hope not, thats a stupid idea, the biggest problem being how almost every second after ROTJ is covered by some lame author. Worse the New Order books have to be the least liked turds ever laided by LucasArts, that or the New Anakin ending in ROTJ

it was definitely rushed for an Xmas release on Xbox, but I haven't encountered any fatal bugs/glitches whatsoever in the 20+ hours I've been playing -- if and when I do, I'll be sure to post about it, but right now, I'm loving the game immensely.
There was a certain part that I thought had glitched, as I was all alone, but it turns out all I had to do was to pick my party members! oops. :">
I don't doubt the game has glitches or bugs. The first game did, and with that one, I had one freeze at the very beginning, but that was it. However, I know some people ran into the dreaded "Carth glitch" as well as the Galaxy Droid -- I never ran into either.
And although I've never had a corrupted save, I always have mutliple save-files anyway....
-
I haven't encountered any issues either, and LOVE this game. THANKS OBSIDIAN!

I think that playing KotOR 2 on consoles doesn't show the full power of the game(engine). A PC with advanced graphic options suits the game better...
well, since I enjoy games for GAMEPLAY, the Xbox version's graphical inferiority to a high-end PC does not hinder my enjoyment. At all. In fact, quite the opposite.

Count yourselves lucky. I would love to find out the root of the problems I have been hearing about and the one I am having. I have had no prior XB problems but with this game its crazy. I get onto the Ebon Hawk for the first time, fight in the turret, take down the three sith guys and then it loads and I get a completely black screen. plenty of actions sounds but no picture. I have gone back to prior save points but I always get the freeze in the same place. This glitch seems to be commen place with this game. it just seems to occure at different times for other users. I am sure that the game is have difficulty with slight differences in XB hardware. Or maybe its a batch of bad disks. Either way it really sucks and you will lose it if it ever happens to one of you.
that sucks, Tobiass. I'm on my second Xbox, as the first one's HDD died, taking my MORROWIND save-files with it (buh-bye countless hours of my life!). This Xbox hasn't had any issues with software yet, and now that I think about it, I suppose I got graphical glitches in KOTOR2 (like the odd transition with previous scene), but honestly thought nothing of it, since the game didn't lock-up or whatever.....I have yet to cross a game-breaker, or a black screen. I'll post if and when, though.
After attempting to play Morrowind (gonna try and get back into it, it is a damn big game) and seeing the massive, drawn out quests and how truly open-ended it is I can only give my condolences at the anguish you must've felt.
thanks, man. I'm just glad that MORROWIND saves can fit on the Xbox memory cards as well -- I backup all the latest saves onto it. Too bad I can't do the same for KOTOR!

undecided.....
I was originally planning on being a pillar of Light, but I find myself screwing over the very people I save at times -- no murder, mind you, but I don't mind getting extra credits here and there. well, ok, I guess I murdered some guards, but they asked for it! Like I was getting caught by those weaklings.....!!

sounds like your Xbox. Mine had zero issues with HALO 2, and the only issues it has with KOTOR2 are the framerate drops (which we all knew about). have had zero freezes and no game-breaking glitches......but I am not yet in Korriban. I'll report back if I do, though.
as is, I suspect your Xbox is to blame.....sorry
-
besides the framerate drop occasionally (for like a second, maybe), there's no issues for me......and what bugs/glitches? I know I keep multiple save-files anyway, so even if one save got messed up, I have back-ups. Do PCers not have to worry about all that?
The game is GREAT; I'm about 18+ hours in now, and my only complaint is the loading screens -- if they could have optimized anything, that woulda been it. Other than that though? Excellent gameplay, story, voice-acting, etc.
-
it'll be worth the wait, y'all -- got it on Tuesday (12/7/04), and have already clocked in 11+ hours in the two days I've played (had to skip a day to recover from sleep deprivation, thanks to KOTOR2 and being employed)!
-
Gameplay? Kicks ass, as before, with new force powers, better combat animations, better dialogue options, etc.
Story? Gripping.
Sound? Excellent voice-acting, and great music -- I was concerned that the VAs wouldn't be as top-notch, but my fears were uncalled for, and have been forgotten.
I'll be playin and replayin for atleast 100+ hours from here on out
-
I've played it for 11+ hours on Xbox since I brought it home Tuesday, 12/7/2004

d'you mean while we were still on Telos, against all the Handmaidens? Unfortunately, I sent Atton back to the ship -- he was whining about being there, so I took Kreia and Bao Dur instead. Kreia doesn't like anybody....lol
