  1. Gotta be honest, I think this sounds like a terrible idea.

I don't think PoE is popular enough to denote a card game. Even though it's hit it's kickstarter goal, the amount of people backing it seems pretty limited.

Maybe I'm wrong and maybe I dunno jack about card game markets or something, but I just don't see how this'll turn much of a profit for Obsidian beyond the initial kickstarter profits.

This board game is made by http://www.zeroradiusgames.com/ and they will get the lion share of the profit. Obsidian will get some bits of it, if the sales are high. So in that sense this "project" is doing very well, Obsidian is not in it for profit, just to spread the earlier mentioned "brand". I will post the link to this profit sharing, as soon as i find it again. (or one of you Obsidianer's could poke in and clarify your intentions)

This isn't intended to come off as rude, but I wonder why the priorities are the way they are for v1.05. Adding portrait changes and features should be much lower in priority than a decent companion AI and continued work on pathfinding. I have seen multiple reviewers and players complain about the lack of AI and how poorly the game plays without it causing frustration for players. I have not yet seen anyone complain about not having the ability to change their portrait over the duration of the game.

Not to be rude, but I wonder if you understand that UI designing and programming and pathfinding and companion AI are done by different people whose work don't influence each other in anyway. And when they promise that feature that allows you to change character portrait and sounds set during game will be in next patch don't mean that they don't improve or at least try to improve those AI and pathfinding issues even if they aren't in next patch, but instead it just is the fact that enabling changing portrait and sound set during the game is much faster feature to produce than fixes for AI or pathfinding, which may even need full overhaul before they work as good as they want and there is no point to introducing quick hacks that don't solve issues fully and have potential to create more issues than they solve.

My thoughts exactly, pointless to point out these priorities (p for pendetta!) when their employees are specialised with different set of skills, for different kind of tasks. It's different story with some large corporations like Bli$$ard, whose patching doesn't usually make any sense.

But that aside, i'm rather pleased with the rhythm you guys are squishing these bugs flat, no matter the order.

Dunno was it answered yet, but here it goes:

PoE Steam additional rewards can be found at least from your computer (After the 1.8 GB download is completed) from location :

SteamLibrary -> SteamApps -> common -> Pillars of Eternity

So in other words, the download folder of steam.

What exact version of the game do you have? Hero/Champion/Royal, did you buy it on Steam or where, did you upgrade it, did you activate a backer key?

My version was a Kickstarter Hero edition, I activated it on Steam with my backer key, then I upgraded it to Champion edition on Steam. I see all the DLCs listed, almanac/soundtrack/wallpapers/ringtones etc. but when I go to install them all, Steam only downloads ~20mb of data and only the Cook Book appears in the steamapps/common/pillars of eternity -folder. I suspect the Cook Book works only because it already came with the Kickstarter Hero edition.

Bought Royal (Collector's Boxed Edition) as Slacker-Backer from Pillars of Eternity website, after the Kickstarter. Activated the key and pre-downloaded it yesterday on Steam. Today it made some downloading/Installing after the release time and it downloaded that 1.8 GB reward contest, while i was playing the game. (steam pop-up windows show'd those rewards one by one while in game)

If you don't see those rewards in your steamApps/common/pillars of eternity - folder, then it haven't downloaded them yet. Do you have Auto-Upgrade enabled in Steam?

  4.

Some Non-Alcoholic Beer: (To get the flavor while keeping clear head to suck in everything from the game)

    Nikolai Dark Lager (Finland/Switzerland)

    Warsteiner Fresh (Germany)

    Buckler (Holland)

    Bavaria Apple (Holland)

And most likely a bag of crisp sea salted chips, some Finnish salty liquorice (Salmiakki, as we call it) and a big class of Milk.

    That should do it.  :shifty:

    Please don't die mate.

Heh not too worry, amounts will be small. (Except for Milk!)

  6. Good suggestion! We already did it. :)

I'm impressed. During a workday, you just came and grabbed a good idea and implemented it straight into the system. Bravo, Obsidian. Bravo.

Auto- slow mode should also become very useful whenever you're dashing around with fast speed mode (while clearing the last corners of fog of war for example) and run straight into some nasty enemies. Will definitely use this mode.

Will the physical goods be sent out with enough time in advance so that they arrive as close as possible to the 26th?

For Europe and everything this side of the pond I assume Paradox will take care of that?

It is looking like everything will be shipped pretty close to release day for folks in the U.S.. International deliveries may be a couple of weeks after release, unfortunately. Once we receive confirmation of delivery from Paradox we will let you guys know.

This is really disappointing, I thought the reason for sending the game out without the game disk was so that we would get the game pretty much on time, I live in the uk and was expecting all but the game disks to arrive around the 26th. Now its a few weeks after, then the game disks a few weeks later, hasn't someone already stated the all the physical aspects of the rewards are complete, is this not true?

I do complete agree to your point! As I am in Germany I also hoped to get the CE gamebox by 26th of March and not a couple of weeks later. Will the physical goods be sent to europe by ship? I payed 20 $ for shipping only, (190 $ in total).  For a small and light game box this is a lot of money. So I expected delivery will by via air mail.

Backers should be the first to get the physical goods instead of everyone else who has e.g. ordered via Amazon.

    I am desperately disappointed!

I am also from Germany and really disappointed about this.

Could please a Dev clear this up for us?

And are we playin the Game at all  at 26th ??

Will we get keys to play it at release?

I am a slacker Backer with a Physical Order.

Physical Orders include digital key for the game, which can be used either in GoG or Steam. So yes, you can play the game at 26th.

  8.

Thanks ManifestedISO! :) For everyone else over the weekend who put in tickets, we'll be pushing through them today and tomorrow and will get all of you taken care of! :)

Can you please looking into my ticket. I been sending it to you on Saturday morning but sofar have not heard back. It was about the shipping costs that I did pay in my original  pledge and when I wanted to upgrade to a higher tier I got ask for the full shipping costs again even so it should have been olny 10 more (was going form the 140$ CE up to the 250$ CE) Have not heard back from the support on that matter and I am getting a little nervous and starting to panic that I will not be able to get it in time before you close it all for good.

They will contact you, do not worry. I made my ticket at Friday about pledges, and got contacted by them yesterday about it. So you will get contacted most likely tomorrow the day after.

Quote from Obsidian's yesterday's (25th of August) post:

    3) Backers who e-mailed us by this 11 AM PDT this morning who wanted to modify their order. We'll help make all of those changes as requested.

This week, we'll take a look at all of the orders made on the Eternity site, and any backers who didn't want to use our site or haven't yet come and completed their orders, will tally everything up, and send final numbers over to Paradox and the suppliers so they know how much of what they need to produce. Fun times ahead!

  9. Are add-ons supposed to still be available? Or is that in the process of getting shut down?

    Quote from other post:

We've closed down the Eternity site to most forms of crowdfunding now except under a few situations:

    1) Existing backers can still buy digital addons, like the Backer Beta.

    2) etc..

So for now, you can still get digital addons (if you are a backer), but nothing else.

  10. Totally opposite effect is horrible also, as was In Elder's Scrolls: Oblivion, stole a mug from a lonely hut, in the middle of forest, and went to Imperial City with it, which made then the guards come after me..

  11.

Well, the worst thing that can happen is just that I gotta get it on Steam at launch. First world problem.  :dancing:

Did you try logging off, clearing the cookies of the website (Ctrl-F5), then logging back in? :)

Tried that now, but the moment I pressed the "Back now" button I suddenly got "Error in exception handler". Oh well.

I guess I'll have to wait till launch. :(

Here is relevant information about the pledges and problems with it:

    http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67447-support-ticket-status/

"As long as we receive any order modification requests by the end of August 22nd, we'll honor any changes you'd like to make and make sure that you get what you'd like, even if that bleeds into next week."

So if you contact them either by https://eternity.obsidian.net/backer/contact or by email support@obsidian.net , with your desired pledging, i'm sure you will get what you want. You should have 9 ½ hours to make your moves, since 22th of August ends after that time period in Obsidian HQ, California. (We at Scandinavia are way ahead of them time wise, you see.)

Here is the Pledging options to view, in case you still cannot access your backer log in of PoE site:

  12. so if intel hd4000 can run the game at this early stage , that means that any low budget/low-end gpu is good enough for this game.

But what about low budget/low-end cpus?

Did anyone tried the game with an amd e450, e2-3000 or intel celeron 1005m, celeron n2807 or any similar in terms of performance low-end cpu?

Since this 2D - kind of game (+effects and whatnot) certainly will run with any 5 years old or newer PC, it indeed would be fun to know that how weak can a PC actually be. Anyone having some old hardware lying around (as mentioned above, or even older) to "benchmark" this PoE beta to the bottomless pit?

  13. This post made me smile, heh. But seriously, not a bad idea at all. A person could also have a heavier shield in other hand to block larger and multiple attacks, while directing a smaller buckler in other hand for strikes that got through and to make some swift counter-strikes with it. Like a more directed shield-bash to enemy's forehead or to disarm a weapon.

In overall, i like it, when there is a usable system for shield in a game, be it a FPS or RPG.  To figure out a way to make an use of two shields, now would be ground breaking.
