  1. The movie contains massive spoilers for the original trilogy.  Do you remember how you first felt when you heard Vader say those famous words inside Bespin?  Seeing the disbelief in Luke's face, which probably matched the disbelief on your face?  When you find out Leia is Luke's sister, how disgusted were you that they kissed on Hoth?

With the new movie (/trilogy), you already know that Luke and Leia are twins.  You already know Anakin is their father.  You already know that he becomes Darth Vader.  You already know that "Old Ben" is really Obiwan.  For those who are watching the original trilogy after having seen the new trilogy, a lot of the plot twists are already known.

So what you're saying is that we're gonna have alot of pissed off 10yr olds who aren't familiar with the original trilogy?

  2. The Millenium Falcon is suppossedly one of the fastest ships around. It can reach a velocity of 0.5 above the speed of light ( 300K kilometers per second)

Is something wrong with this picture???!!!

One of the closest star constellations to earth is approx. 120 light years away, which means even Chewie would be a skeleton before he reached it with the "amazing" 0.5 above lightspeed cappability. I know, its just sci-fi, but sci-fi with brains tends to be alot more aluring and exciting. The Republic wouldn't be able to exist because the first intrepid expplorers wouldn't have returned to Coruscant to report their findings by the time The Emperor seized power. So if a ship was to travel from the Core Systems to the Outer Rim planets like Tatooine it would take like..... forever or rather 400 years to travel 600 lightyears. I love the SW universe, but this really knepper min r

  4. When the thread about the forum closing was made, I understood the reasons listed, tho I didn't nessasarily agree 100% with all of the reasons.

Now I very much appreiciate the forums being left open, but I feel this new "more strict" moderation isn't doing exactly what you hope to accomplish.

I understand that you don't like negitive press or responses (especially when it can effect your livelyhood), who does, but you will allow it (within reason). I appreciate that, but then wouldn't the mods be most effective dealing with the many threads in the K2 forum that are repeatedly posted on the same topic (more often than not a complaint of some sort)? I mean, there only needs to be one topic per legit complaint.

Or even pruning spam out of serious discussion in the K2 forums. I don't think anyone can post a positive review in the K2 forums without someone flaming him or her. EXAMPLE

EDIT: the mods have since edited the topic, but a poster said something along the lines of dragging the reviewer out and beating him with a bat to knock sense into him.

It's just I've just noticed that there has been warnings being made about some of the topics disscussed in "Way Off-Topic". They havn't been because of foul language in a family forum or anything of that nature, but due to discussion (or in reality, the joking around with) political topics. I know the mods do this because they have been instructed to in some way, so I'm not blaming them, or anyone for that matter. I think there just has been a mix up in the clarification of what you actually want.

Now, I've been in this forum since the start and have been involved in ALOT of political and religious, all very heated. The key thing is, most (if any) didn't need any moderation, much less closing. Passion about a topic doesn't mean there is something wrong. We have shown we can handle adult topics like adults and until someone proves otherwise, I think we should be able to "run on a lead" in "Way off-topic", so to speak. After all, I don't think political disscussion on these boards is why you considered closing them.

That being said, I think most of us would appreciate a little extra breathing room in "Way off-topic" for good natured kidding around as well. As you can see "serious" topics mostly stay serious (The Lost topic, my book topic, political and religious, many a sports topic, etc.)and  have stated on topic with no moderation. There is a little kidding around in every topic, but I doubt anyone gets many complaints (if any) about it. Just look at the "Lost" topic, it has been going strong for months, even if it gets side-tracked for a few posts now and then. We do a fairly good job self regulating in general, especially when a discussion gets going.

When it comes to a "light" topics in "Way off-topic", unless it gets crued, I think everyone would appreciate mods looking the other way. I don't think our recent "Kumquat vs. chimp" topic hurt anyone and everyone involved had a laugh (and look, we even had a little bit of serious discussion ...kinda   ).

All and all, I hope you can see my point about "Way off-topic" and address our mods (who we need to thank more for dealing with the real problems) accordingly. Way off-topic is mostly filled with "regulars", those people who were around for all those weekend programmer posts. Most of us have said our peace about K2, positive or negative, and don't really discuss it as being "good or bad" anymore so much as what we would like to see done better in the future and what we enjoyed. I don't think these are the people you need to look after. If you don't see it as I do, I hope you will take the time to discuss this further.

    Thanks

(sorry in advance for the many typos I am sure exist in this post)

    P.S.

I think a community manager will ultimately prove to be a waste of your time and money, especially going forward. We didn't need one before and K2 discussion is easying down, as evident by the increasing K3 threads  . Tho I think you might secretly   agree with me on this one.

hmm, the Force is particularly strong in this one....

This has to be one of the most far out story I've heard in a long, long time.  It was all over the radio today here in California.

The poor guy had his nose severed, one of eye-balls ripped from its socket, ALL his fingers chewed off, most of his toes chewed off on one foot, half of his buttocks ripped off, most of his face shredded and one of his testicles crushed.  :'(

sounds more like a gruesome shark attack to me. Force Sensitive chimp was it?

not just left wing nut jobs (or right wing) you gotta worry about with this site, i'd say nut jobs in general.  i like the "rebuttal to popular mechanics" thing regarding 9/11... pure conspiracy theorist crap.  shoulda labelled it "we're just going to ignore science and claim PM is full of it!"  what maroons...

I find your lack of faith disturbing... <_<

Faith? Ever tried it with common sense/savvy...?

Ease back, its a quotation from SW. It was meant as a way to alleviate the tension that always seem to follow in the wake of political discussions ;)

  7. I urge all American citizens to wake up and check out this website. Warning!!! You might experience an enlightenment after this!

um, well, wow. I know a lot of Americans who hate Bush.

Dont blame us  (Europe) you're the ones who gave him 4 more years...

Drop the "you're" first, as 49% of America DIDN'T want to give him four more years. And the majority of America didn't want him elected in the first place.

Don't blame Europe, though? Okay, "our" president is a right-wing nut job, but last time I checked politics in Europe wasn't that great either. Chirac didn't want to go into Iraq because he didn't want to screw around with oil money that he wanted. Tony Blair is the Dubya of Britain. Putin hates democracy. What else is new?

Trust me, there are a lot of Americans who hate Bush as much as you. Despite this, he is one of many, many bad men.

Finally! (w00t) You're the only one so far who's actually supporting your views with if not facts then at least commonly accepted views instead of the usual "you're stupid, I don't like you" comments. I agree that Europe is no saint in terms of ideology. Its no big secret that French Telecom has a major interest in Iraq and BP is gunning for those future oil contracts. Btw, the "you're the ones.." was just to create a response. In that respect I seem to have succeeded ;)

  9.

Hi again folks. First off, I appreciate the moderator for helping me with the general rules of conduct within this forum. I just wanted that site to be better known to the public, but of course a more in-depth discussion is far more to my own liking as well. I was just in a hurry.

In regards to as whether or not this subject is even worth discussing is of course up to u guys. However, I believe that the accumulation, processing and distribution of knowledge is always a mentally healthy thing to do. After all, we're talking about some shady things going on. Ill admit that some of the links lead down some roads where we are no longer dealing with healthy scepticism, but rather blind conspiracyraging. Having said that, a great deal of the sources mentioned stem from retired US diplomats, students, Nobel Prize nominees and winners as well as just the guy next door.

Im not saying which way to go Im just asking for directions... :geek:

  10. While I was merrily on my way in Nar Shadda, I made the slightest of mistakes - when T3 was cornered by the HK droids, I decided discretion was the better part of valor and ran away, off screen. C'mon, one little droid vs. 3 Assasins? This sounded even more unfair than Atton vs. the Twi'leks. So, I ran.

Later of course, I find I was supposed to get the HK chassis off those guys. Begging the question - where can I buy the chassis and get my meatbag-killer online? I've got all the other parts....

I know that theres a droid part vendor on Dantooine who also sells some HK-assasin parts. He's located just to the NW of the Administrator's HQ. You can also get him to join the militia defense if you are going for the LS. :)
