  1. Thanks for your answer, I'll ask on the tumblr for the chants :).

Without relaunching the debate, I understood why you don't like it. That's true that the "battlefield" is a lot more static that in an IE game and turn a lot more around positioning instead of kitting/movement.

I think that's just a question of preference. I played BG for the first time with the Extended Edition, and if it quickly became my favorite RPG with fallout 2, its combat never were its strong point for me. I always felt like I had to exploit the game to win (note that I may be bad at it :p). Having to attract Saverock and its lieutenant one by one. Abusing invocation to pass vampires (Level draining, Duh) and illithids (int draining :'(). Having to prebuff myself so much my character probably looked like Schwartznegger after that to vanquish difficult opponents (Dragons, boss...).

That's why I like PoE combat right now, I don't feel like I have to "cheat" to win (even if it might come later in the game or in harder difficulties). I have more control on the battlefield, and that's really something I enjoy.

But then again, I respect that, really loving IE games combat, you'd prefer something closer with it and don't enjoy this mechanic.

  2. Hello !

I finally decided to go further in the backer beta, that I really love. The environments, the writting, and the combats (sorry Sensuki I like engagement :p) are really great in my opinion.

But after playing a few hours I got a few questions :

    - I played as a Cypher, and saw a special dialog option because of my class. And it made me wonder, will some companion unlock you specials dialogs ?

Let's say I'm playing a Paladin, if I got a Cypher companion with me when I encounter a NPC with special dialog with cypher, will I be able to use this companion to unlock this dialog option ?

    - Are skills like "lore" really useful on companions ? I can't help but seing "Lore" as a dialog skill since I already saw a few time a "Lore" dialog option (I'm not really sure about what it does outside of a dialog). But It seems that the "Lore" skill of my companions doesn't matter in that case. If one of them have 8 and I have 4, I will not be able to unlock a "6" Lore dialog option.

    - I created a "Chanter" companion, I really like the class and was wondering if they were any plan to add some kind of "music/singing" when you activate their song ? I don't mean that you should voice every line they can sing, but a little something would really add to immersion and the charm of the class I think :).

  3. Well it is kind of connected because it started by claiming PoE should be more like modern writing where I was trying explain most of BG1 writing was good enough for this kind of game.

Well, made another post "How PoE writting should be" and I'll be glad to participate in the debate.

Let's not bash each other on the only positive topic this damn forum got.

  4.

Is it ? I finished it a few days ago and I didn't notice any bug with this questline.

Depends on how you do it. One of the more common bugs is various NPC going hostile after the HCC vote.

Oh, I guess I was lucky then !

And I do think it would be a good thing for PoE to not be released at the same time than the Witcher 3, we agree that it's a very different game (and honestly, I'm more waiting for PoE than the Witcher even if I loved the first two games), but a lot of gamers (like me) play a large range of game, and will not see/try PoE if it get out on the same schedule.

Well, not immediatly, I guess they would buy it a while after.

Wasteland 2 was kneecapped by Shadow of Mordor

Err. WL2 is an awesome game that was kneecapped by nothing but its own gamebreaking bugs at release. Now - after four patches! - it's a much smoother ride but Hollywood quest line ending is still somewhat broken.

  6. Just to come back on the first post of the topic, I'm happy to finally see something else than doubt or complain on this forum.

I do like the shape of this game, and I do think it will be a great one.

The writting seems nice, I do like most of the interface (which is way better than the oldies' one like BG in my opinion). The combat do need some tweaks but feels like it's going in the right direction (I do appreciate to see obsidian trying something else than the D&D system, never really liked it, but it's just a question of taste I guess).

I also do think this game is very pretty, even if there is some visibility problem with the characters which should be corrected.

For me, they're trying to take the good things from the oldies' and change what was not so good about them, and that's nice. That's a lot of work and obviously everything is not close to be finished yet, but still.

There is a lot of feedback on the forum, which is a good thing, but I don't like the tone of it. too much negativity, some people here sounds like spoiled kids. That's a good thing to show your opinion, and even better when you make some concrete example of what's not fine in your opinion, but I must say I feel bad for the developpers when I see random player bashing the game for a yes or a no.

Well, it was my 2 cents.

  7. Get that girl that did Skyrim songs on youtube to do some song for a tavern, she has amazing voice. I am sure someone here knows what she is called.

Malukah :). Don't know her real name but it must not be hard to contact her with this one, since she has her youtube channel.

About voice acting, I was wondering, is there any plan to "sing" the chanter song when he's fighting ? It would add to much to the class !
