  1. There, I finally got around to adding my picture :(

Wow, what happened to the guy in back with the black eye?

Well, our Drill Sergeants let us sort things out amongst each other. So if one guy had a problem with another, we could fight it out. But the rule was that there would be no face shots because if the company commander saw us all walking around with bruised up faces or black eyes, he would know what was going on. Well, their fight got a little out of hand and some facial punches were exchanged, thus resulting in his black eye.

Fighting was also used to square away the dipsh*ts that were in our platoon. For those of you who have seen Full Metal Jacket, you'll remember how the Drill Sergeant turned the platoon against the one private who kept screwing up by smoking the whole platoon for his mistakes. Then they did that soap and towel party to square him away. We basically did the same thing in our platoon, but it was a little worse. We had this one guy who was just a total screw up; he couldn't do one thing right. We payed hard core for every mistake he made. So one night a bunch of guys just screwed him bad, and I mean bad. He actually had to go to the hospital and was sent on medical leave.

  2. Congrats, man.  Keep your feet together and your head down.

Out of curiosity, did you have any ANGLICO boys going through with you?

As a matter of fact we did have quite a few Marines going through with us. The ones that I got to know were mostly Force Recon who were offered airborne before attending their next school. They were definitely some of the most motivated Soldiers I have ever met, especially one Gunnery Sergeant in particular. That guy was nuts :D

  3. Congratulation 11XHooah

Will you undergo RIP at Ft. Benning Georgia or is there another boot camp? And are you now officially part of the 5th Ranger Training batallion or not yet?

BTW, don't even bother responding to ppl who say you're stupid or something, you're doing something you love and believe in....and nothing else matters.

RIP will take place at Ft. Benning as well. They won't be picking us up for RIP until after we get back from exodus, but after that I will finally be part of the 5th Ranger Training battalion. And thanks for the support bro, I appreciate it

  4. Hey guys. Sorry it took me so long to respond to some of these posts. I've been catching up with a few people back home.

    Congratulations.

Dying for your "country". What a delightful ideal.

No, actually my objective is to make the other bastard die for his. And even if I should die for my country, I will have no regrets because I died defending what I love and believe in. So are you telling me that you would not fight and risk death for your country if it came under attack?

Congrats! Don't forget to post a few pictures of your equipment once you get it :))

I definitely will once I get to Ranger battalion. I have some pictures from airborne school, but they're on a disposable camera. But I'll try to get them developed and posted up on here ASAP. It's too bad I couldn't bring a camera with me on my jumps though :D

Yes, it is true. I'm no longer a dirty nasty leg :D  I just graduated Airborne school on thursday and now I'm on my way to RIP. So in another month I'll finally be a Ranger. But I lucked out and the Army gave me Christmas exodus, meaning I get two weeks to finally relax  Just thought I'd give you guys a sitrep on my training.

congrats, you're a moron for joining... go get yourself killed for absolutely no reason. i wont even mention what a ****ed up organziation the army really is...

Yeah, you sound like you really know what you are talking about  You just sound like a little punk who doesn't understand that the military is the one who protects the freedoms and rights that you hold so dearly. Maybe some day you will appreciate the sacrifices that the armed forces have made so you don't have to. While you sit at home on your computer talking on forums, they are out there fighting and destroying those who would do harm to you and the rest of the country. They fight so you don't have to.

But that makes them a bunch of morons in a ****ed up organization, right?

  6. I'm quite the arms happy young man myself, but I don't think that they are 'great'. I most certainly don't believe in war being the answer. I think they look cool, and I don't mind being around them, knowing stuff about em is just a minor hobby to me. Personally I would never kill anyone, nor would I go to war for corrupt administrations and its sinister plans. "

That last sentence caught my attention. I hope you're not heading in the direction that I think you're heading. :- :D

  7. Well my plans to become a normal Infantryman changed during OSUT. I scored high enough on my PT to get offered a Special Forces contract or a Ranger contract, so I took Ranger. So I start airborne school on monday, and then I go to RIP sometime in January. Should be fun

Infantryman in the U.S. Army. Currently training to be a Ranger at Ft. Benning Georgia.

Wow (w00t) ....congrats 11XHooah!!! Ft. Benning Georgia you say, then I wish you warm feet up on those cold mountains :D ( if that is the Mountain Ranger camp?)

Also, I wish you all the luck during your indoctrination program, anyways are you already part of the 5th Ranger Training batallion?

Thanks :- Right now I'm waiting on airborne school, and then when I come back after christmas exodus I'll get assigned to a RIP class. The only thing that sucks is that I have to do airborne and RIP during winter. I'm going to have some real cold jumps :D

  8. Hey guys, what's happening? Damn it's been a while. About 18 weeks since I was last talking to you guys on here. So how have things been going? Any good debates? :D

So anyway, I see that obsidian finally got those damn patches released :D If I get some time I'll try them out and see if the game is any better. Well, if anyone has questions about Infantry training or anything of the sort, I'd be glad to answer them.

Oh yeah, is the green dragon still around :)

  9. I hate it when people use video games as a scapegoat. I've been playing violent video games all my life and they haven't affected me. If someone goes on a rampage, it's because they chose to do it. These people need to take responsibility for their own actions.

  10. I think the story of hamlet is actually the story of the Baliol(sp?) clan of Scotland

Oh, and bit of [wideangle] and Independent Lens

Looking back at my notes (our teacher was completely bent on proving Shakespeare was a plagiarist), Hamlet was based on an old Norse legend in history of the Danes written by Saxo Grammatious. If you compare the plots of the two stories, they are almost identical. Hamlet is also based on a play called The Spanish Tragedy by Thoms Kyd.

Personally, I don't like Shakespeare. I find it boring, and I'm not exactly proficient in Shakespeare's use of language. I just had to endure reading his work and learning about him.

  11. ...

There is no such thing as true originality and unconcious 'rip offs' happen all the time - it's human nature to be unconciously influenced by things we've seen/heard/been around while creating.

    ...

That's a mighty strong statement, even for the OE Way Off-Topic forum!

What are you saying, that Shakespeare wasn't original?

    I don't think so.

I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate!

Shakespeare is a plagiarist. Sources for many of his works were variations of old legends and myths from Britain and the greater world. Hamlet, for example, is based on an old Norse legend. At least that's what I was taught.
