  1. Since I'm in the process of going through PoE1... again... to prepare another character for Deadfire, I thought to rectify something that always bothered me a bit: The design of a certain, late game character.

    Note: I have yet to figure out how to actually change the portrait ingame, since just dropping it into the "npcs" folder, overwriting the original, didn't seem to do the trick... maybe it only works on a new playthrough?

  2. Sometimes you might get a better result if once you finish the watercolor version you place the original on top of it with Pin Light layer choice and adjust its transparency, just have to be careful about the background color so it remains the base parchment one. In my case Pin Light resulted in the final skin/hair/armor color for the orlan girl.

    Always worth a try, although the result depends on the portrait colors, the trick does seem to work well at least for protecting the original colors and shadows on the watercolor version.

    This is Pin Light with 55% transparency added, while not a big diffference you can see the shadow of the hair at the neck and ears better. I think most portraits should work fine with leaving transparency on 100% and the primary reason of using this would be making the colors more vibrant, which result in case of this blonde girl doesn't shine through as Pin Light is weak with white/golden colors.

    ...the linework was a bit weak too. ;)

  3. There are 4 portrait types - lg, sm, convo, si.

    example:

    male_human_a_lg.png

    male_human_a_sm.png

    male_human_a_convo.png

    male_human_a_si.png

    lg = large portrait = 210 x 320 pixels

    sm = small portrait  = 76 x 96 pixels

    convo = large watercolour = 90 x 141 pixels

    si = small watercolour = 76 x 96 pixels

    For a custom portrait to show up in the in-game list, you only need lg and sm. I just find the last unique "letter"  for the appropriate sex/race and continue on from there. For example, the last female elf portrait is "female_elf_k_" so I just continue on from there with "female_elf_l_", then "female_elf_m_" and so on.

    Small correction: For some reason, the "si" versions of the new - as in, new to Deadfire - portraits are 90 x 114. The "si" files made from PoE1 holdovers have the 76 x 96 pixel count, though. I actually went through the portraits folder and made all those legacy files a higher resolution by simply cropping the convo files down to 90 x 114, since the "si" interface apparently allows for a higher resolution...

    ...yea, I'm that analy retentive. :p

  4. Hi! I cant get Cornett of the Depths. I have 20 con and 7 surv and still  cant trigger "dive to light". Someone know what exacly stats need for dive? thx

    Even more. with drugs and stat items i have 22 con, 14 perceprtion, 16 atlethics, 7 surv and still cant trigger that damn dive text.

    Hm, that's odd, since I let Eder dive for it, and he did it no problem... and he had his base stats +1 Con or something like that.

  5.

    Deadfire starts with a D.

    You know what else starts with a D? Dwarves.

    You know what's sorely missing in this thread? Dwarves.

    Coincidence? I think not.

    I was gonna say no way - but I searched and I really nearly found next to nothing on dwarves anywhere..so sorry.  ;(

    There are some in the last thread... in the meantime, have more elf! :D

    That thing is so ugly, why on earth would you want a portrait of that  :blink:

    ugly or pretty or fascinating..it's still art though  :yes:

    Yes you're quite right, but still absolutely YUCK! :yucky:  If there was a jungle version of the film "The Thing" - That would be it!

    Y kind of but it fits a evil natural godlike wizard run.

    Oh alright fair enough. :lol:

    Would probably have to be a solo wizard run because I could not even fathom any of the companions wanting to tag along with that thing!

    Here's my request:

    Thx @DexGames for the first one !

    Can someone do this one only the upper Half if possible -> https://imgur.com/a/lErCiZx

    That thing is so ugly, why on earth would you want a portrait of that :blink:

    Wow, that's a challenge... I'll try that!

    Thank you War baby, It is indeed! Any attempt I make would be hopeless i'm afraid.

    Let me know how you get along with it ;)

    Well, it's an attempt alright... turned out a bit dark, but making fotos look like paintings is tricky.

  7. If this chain has some requirement - sorry, I didn't know this. It's the way I took to get out of the old city.

    Not that I'm arguing - I also found this decision strange - but you can find a way out peacefully. If you use the rope to get to the west part, you will meet the guard who will usher you to their leader (teleport, really). When the talking is done you can roam freely and take a boat to Queen's Berth.

    Tha probably only works if you already are in the positive with the Principi. If not, you can only [Attack] or [Leave] when they spot you on the left side (elevator) of the pier, and both options lead to fighting... when you are spotted on the right side (path to the Old City), they attack you outright, which is fine I guess.

  8. In the meantime, there's a rope between the docks you can use to cross over towards the entrance without fighting the smugglers in the fort. When you head closer to the lift in the Undercroft from there you'll find a pirate who you can actually talk to.

    True, but you still have to fight the guard and his group on the other side of the wharf, which gives you the same -3 on Principi reputation, even when you choose the [Leave] dialogue option, since you are past the safe zone when you hit the pier from the right. I tried it multiple times... besides, you still only have the option to use the Delver's Row elevator out of there, which automatically sets off the thugs on top to attack you, since you are - once again - past the zone where they just talk to you. I even got the leader of the thugs to talk to me by initiating dialogue manually fast enough, but his friends still attacked my group...

    As I said, it should be scripted like fort Deadlight, where you are simply ejected from the restricted area if you choose to not attack the guy that spots you, otherwise you are roped into combat (and therefore a hefty reputation loss) no matter what.

  9. Hey. I don't really know if it's a bug, an oversight or working as intended, but right now you are practically locked into a 3 point reputation loss with the Principi and Delvers Row when you enter the Old City through the Gullet, and are not back at the elevator in half a day (do not rest, basically). The only way out of the ruins after is through the Undercroft > Delvers Row, where you are attacked by pirates and thugs (at least when you are neutral to those factions) without an option to "get kicked out" for trespassing, as you have in most other locations where your group doesn't belong... stuff like that, as well as quests that break when you don't do their stepts in order, should really get another check up, since they really put a dampener on exploration and nonlinear play.
