  3. Yikes. Puritan is a group term; it covers the protestants who felt the Church of England was too closely tied in form and function to the Roman Catholic church and should be reformed (or, literally, purified of the Catholic influence). The Mayflower pilgrims were Brownists (aka separatist Puritans) who initially wanted to move to Newfoundland, but eventually moved to Amsterdam in 1607 when Cromwell was 8. Their motivation for leaving was the execution of Henry Barrow and John Greenwood (who'd founded the Brownest movement after the teachings of Robert Browne). The movement, like all puritan groups, wanted to to reform the church and in particular have repealed he Act of Uniformity (1559) that made it illegal to miss church functions. They became prosecuted after the Act Against Puritans (1593) which made it so that not attending the functions of the Church of England could ultimately lead to execution The Brownists actually had three going churches in Amsterdam, a protestant stronghold in Europe at the time, but had problems with supporting themselves and a desire to conduct missionary work and an internal split; part became the early Baptist church, with the others splitting between leaders with two groups ultimately leaving for the Americas ~1620, one to what is now Virginia, and one to Massachusetts. Cromwell, meanwhile, didn't officially become associated with Puritanism until 1630, 10 years after the Brownists hit America. For his part, Cromwell was considered part of a radical Puritan bent that arose after the persecution in England and was markedly anti-Catholic and anti-Quaker. That's not to say the Brownists were 'good' or 'bad', but their ties with Cromwell seem to be rather tenuous (as I recall, and a quick search didn't indicate they were part of the Puritan reverse migration with Cromwell came to power).

  5. in the twitter silliness the plymouth rock pilgrims, who were as amentep observes, separatists as 'posed to reformers, is being conflated with the blanket descriptor o' "puritan" which is inappropriate on multiple levels, but to be fair, the "puritans," who were indeed being persecuted in england were, as often as not, intolerant d-bags once they got to the americas. America’s True History of Religious Tolerance any kinda american religious tolerance weren't a thing until 1777 when thomas jefferson (whom we admitted criticize frequent on these boards) pushed back against an effort to make christianity the official state religion o' virginia as well as a proposed mandate to teach christianity in the "state." is first time we saw an effort at legislating state-wide religious tolerance in what eventual became the USA. previous to 1777, the norm were cold religious bigotry punctuated by all too frequent actual bloody conflict. 1786 sees adoption o' the Virginia Act for Establishing Religious Freedom, and if that were the only positive thing jefferson ever accomplished, from our pov it would be enough to be deserving o' monuments in his memory. the term religious extremist is a bit loaded. different. the puritans (again a terrible overbroad descriptor) were indeed persecuted and faced draconian punishments for even minor slights against the anglican church in england. extreme 'cause they wouldn't conform. once those persecuted people reached the americas, they immediate began persecuting indians and each other. look to the experience o' the quakers who were persecuted in england, and new england, and you are gonna have a hard time accusing them o' the great evils the twitter excerpt seems to feel justified the treatment o' the puritans. the persecution in england and the colonies had little do with extremism. different alone deserved persecution. 10. Newt Gingrich: The left wants "to get rid of the rest of us because we believe in George Washington" "The anti-American left would love to drown traditional, classic Americans with as many people as they can who know nothing of American history, nothing of American tradition, nothing of the rule of law," he said. "If you go and look at the radical left, this is their ideal model. It's to get rid of the rest of us because we believe in George Washington, or we believe in the Constitution, and you see this behavior over and over again." *sigh* am knowing we mentioned the smallpox bit previous... How George Washington Used Vaccines to Help Win the Revolutionary War "By spring [of 1776] the condition of the American soldiers in Canada had deteriorated severely due to continuous outbreaks of smallpox... Approximately half of the soldiers were ill. The majority of the new recruits were not immune to the disease, and reinforcements sent to Canada sickened quickly." Becker recounted. "Contemporary evidence is overwhelming: smallpox destroyed the Northern Army and all hope of persuading the Canadians to join the Revolution." "Our misfortunes in Canada are enough to melt a heart of stone," John Adams wrote in June 1776. "The small-pox is ten times more terrible than Britons, Canadians, and Indians together." FULLY AWARE of the disaster in the north, George Washington realized that merely evading smallpox would no longer suffice; he wanted to prevent it altogether. Inoculation was already available, although the procedure -- called variolation -- was not without risks. The vaccines we're accustomed to today were not invented yet, so doctors would simply make a small incision in the patient's arm then introduce pus from the pustules of an infected victim into the wound. Variolation often resulted in a minor smallpox infection with a speedier recovery and vastly lower fatality rates, around two percent. Survivors were granted lifelong immunity. At first, Washington simply required new recruits to be inoculated. Then, in February 1777, he bit the bullet entirely. "Finding the smallpox to be spreading much and fearing that no precaution can prevent it from running thro' the whole of our Army, I have determined that the Troops shall be inoculated. This Expedient may be attended with some inconveniences and some disadvantages, but yet I trust, in its consequences will have the most happy effects." This was a bold move. At the time, variolation was technically outlawed by the Continental Congress, so Washington was openly flouting the law. Whole divisions were inoculated and quarantined en masse, a process that would continue for months. Strict secrecy was maintained to prevent the British from uncovering the program, lest they launch an attack upon the recovering troops. By year's end, 40,000 soldiers were immunized. The results were stunning. The smallpox infection rate in the Continental Army rapidly fell from 17 percent to one percent, prompting the Continental Congress to legalize variolation across the states. ... george washington might not be the founding father newt gingrich and desantis should invoke to defend their ignorance and stoopid. HA! Good Fun!

  13. Yeah, personally I prefer Swashbuckler tanks. Besides doing more damage per hit, they can also trigger a lot of passive Riposte attacks. My Eder with Tuotilo's Palm was sometimes doing Riposte crits in the range of 200 total damage from both hands and weapon and shield specials triggering (PLUS applying Bleeding Cuts with Magran's Favor). I did also use Pallegina herald as support and offtank, though (with Willbreaker).

  18. Ya that’s true and you’ll notice on some post I made recently. I thought I was safe at Hosongo with like 94 deflection and I got shot to pieces by the ranged Naga and they were Crits! I was only like level 8 but I thought I was good…you are definitely right lol. I guess the question is then what’s the dig on Crusader for too much defense? I see that a lot. Maybe those comments are for solo or non. POTD? Dunno. If you can never have too much defense then a party tank like a Crusader is good no? Lol I don’t know.

  19. TBF that's a running joke in Deadfire: "Gosh, I really overdid it piling up all these defenses, now I'm a quasi-god and any additional defense would be essentially useless". 5 minutes later "oh damn, those nagas can reach an ACC of 150 ! And that dragon too! and that one.. and.. I need more defenses for the next run." And then you forget the next time . The only useful mantra: there is no such thing as too much defense on PotD.

  23. Berserker/Skald or Furyshaper/Skald are great imo. Very nice "on the fly" fortitude debuffing with The Long Night's Drink + Spirit Frenzy (substituted with Morning Star + modal - Willbreaker is great). Together with Ben Fidel's Neck (stacks with all individual defense debuffs) you can lower enemies Fortitude by 55 points which is not only good for your party but also for your crits because you will pick Brute Force. Nice complementing weapon: Pike for the deflection debuff (Ngati's Tusk with max Survival is a supergood debuffing tool, too). You can always attack the lower of the two defenses, deflection or fortitude which leads to a lot more crits.

  24. Every SC Rogue subclass with Gambit is very good. You just need more than 10 Guile and decent accuracy so you don't miss or graze (too much). That's very straightforward. You will be at 100% crit conversion and can spam Gambit quasi-endlessly. Streetfighter is better than Assassin with a party imo because no invisibility is needed (no "park and fight" ). Works with melee or ranged weapons, but of course dual blunderbusses/mortars is best imo (first of all bc of Streetfighter passive and then it's very difficult to land only misses or grazes with those multihit shots). I also find SC Trickster worthwhile. Wall of Flashing Steel (passive +10 deflection when scoring a crit, stacks with Mirrored Images etc.) + Gambit is very nice. Crits galore as usual but quasi-permanent +10 deflection because of that. Combine with deflection gear and you'll deal lots of damage while being able to "dodge" lots of attacks. Debonaire is only nice for the additional tier-3 body inspiration for your charmed kith enemies I guess? Althoug iirc that's bound to char level, not Power Level? Don't remember. Anyway - if you charm the "right" enemy this can really mess up enemies' order. Suddenly the best of them comes at them with up to 3 body inspiration, charmed for nearly a minute... Not enough to justify SC alone though (even if it's unlockes by PL) - but you also get Gambit which would be the real motivation to go SC I think. What I really don't know is why anyone would pick vanilla Rogue though - SC or MC. Imo there's not much (maybe zero?) motivation for that (Barbarian, Monk, Ranger and Fighter, too - but most of all I feel like that for Rogue). Anyway - I think SC Rogue is on another level as SC Fighter or Paladin for example (niche builds aside of course - I mean who doesn't love endless Zeal from sacrificed Skeletons etc. )

  25. I have a ridiculous amount of shows I've bookmarked that will probably take me literally a decade-plus to get around to trying all of, which I've bookmarked on the basis of few different criteria important to me. Luluco was a "okay I'm probably gonna hate this, but it does match my criteria and you never know" try-out. Well, I actually didn't hate it, it was decent enough, I think - kind of like Kill la Kill, really. Also, because I have so many things bookmarked, I kind of feel a pressing need to steadily try them out purely for the sake of clearing them out - though because I'm already watching a few other shows as it is, I am focusing on trying out that which I most strongly believe I won't like. The risk I run when I do that is I might end up trying something which I actually do like and only adds to the current logjam of shows I'm watching... Though at least I'm usually watching one or two of them with my other party, which helps make steady progress with at least one of them (Miyu is that one right now, and unsurprisingly will be the first I finish out of everything). Xiaolang/Sakura: It felt very right, especially after he's given her a couple that really rightfully belonged to him. Nice to see that reciprocated, . He tried to play it off all cold, of course, but it's a little difficult to believe when he's the one that started it, . Hope you enjoy your deserved vacation!

  27. That's true. Barbarian relies on picking one of the Shout upgrade (preferrably Driving Roar). Cipher is borderline with the casters because PL is really good, but still favors heavily some subclasses, picking Shared Nightmare, etc... If not, it won't be that much better than your usual Ancestor's Memory + Disintigrate spamming MC Cipher.

  28. RIP Bobby Eaton. The Midnight Express (Eaton and Condry, Eaton and Lane; I don't think I saw the earlier pre-Eaton version but may have) were one of those tag teams that regardless which territory I saw them in, you knew they were headed to the top to feud with the best. By all accounts I've heard, Bobby was a good guy, someone who I don't think I've heard anyone in the wrestling business say anything bad about and who fans have only had positive things to say about their interactions with him. And with wrestlers that pretty rarified country because usually someone held a grudge somewhere, but not with Bobby from what I've heard.

  29. I see your point, but then I struggle to see the difference between Cipher/Barb and the classes you described above: SC Cipher/Barb awesomeness is also about choosing specific combinations of subclasses and abilities - while I agree that it's hard to not effectively build an awesome SC Druid, Priest, Wizard, Monks regardless of choices. So maybe I see 2 tiers, not 3 but of course it's a bit subjective as you said... anyway back to pretending that I'm doing some work!

You can cross-check the references. Search for this in the file: "LL_ <-include the inverted commas! That will show you a Loot List (they start with LL_). Some objects have specific drops, some are random, but from specific LootLists. Some have LootLists within LootLists. (This is why my Bountiful Booty mod goes way over the top sometimes!)

  33. 1 episode left? I can see walking away because you don't like a show after a one or a few episodes but leaving just one episode left is worse than forcing yourself through something you hate. If I have learned one thing from thirteen years of working, it is that you should absolutely never do more than you are paid to do. You will not get paid more, you will not get promoted, you will not see any god damn benefit but your boss or manager will expect you to spend your own time doing more or doing something harder. **** that, if I'm not being paid I simply do not care.

  36. I am not superwell versed in 5e so some of those might be off, but those that come to mind Reactions - there is no reaction system as such, you don't get to choose to act during enemy turn if circumstances allow. Some stuff, like opportunity attack is a toogle and characters will attack at first opportunity, with first toggled reaction available. We are yet to see what they will do with stuff like paladin's smite, or counterspell, and at the moment to me it feels like reactions are barely in the game. Not something I minded at first, but after paying Solasta, it seems like BG3 is missing a chunky part of action economy. Free advantage for highground (and till recently attacking from behind the enemy) - that's a powerful boost to chance-to-hit, making buff spells somewhat irrelevant. That's been changed for better in the last patch, as there is no longer free advantage for melee characters. I think rogues can still get it if they attack from behind from stealth. In stealth there are view cones, that make it rather easy to be invisible as everyone can attack and hide on the same turn. Could be fixed with better AI (at the moment they will stand and do nothing, if there is no visible enemy) quite a few main actions were made bonus actions - hide, push, drink/use potion, jump (though thank goodness since recent patch disengage is a speperate action that cost's main action) Scrolls can be cast by anyone (is that Larian or 5e? Not sure). Surfaces, special arrows and granades, (which create surfaces) explosives (welcome nerf to those in recent patch) moved over from D:OS2 - guaranteed sources of damage, that really mess with concentration mechanic - good luck maintaining concentration when 5 goblins throw guaranteed damage granades in your face. You can throw stuff - never used it myself but I hear it is pretty broken (don't know if patch 5 fixed anything). Apparently, heavy items, like armors, do quite a bit of damage when thrown. Treat it as second hand information, but I hear a lot of ACs were changed, and hitpoints increased for the sake of having less misses in combat. Before recent patch I would rarely miss - be it thanks to always having advantage or lowered AC - I don't know. Just recently someone raged on Larian's forum, because they changed Phase Spiders, from stealthy meele enemies, to ranged teleporting away enemies (ranged attacks of course level a puddle of poison). Intellect Devourer's are this game equivalent of "rats", though I am unfamiliar with TT version. I fought level 5 NPC with over 80 hitpoints, which was odd as my high constitution character had about half of that on level 4. I hear 80 is not a norm. Lots of small things, like rogue's sneak attack being one per turn activable ability, rather then activating automatically with hit. etc. My impressions is that gameplay revolves a lot around surfaces, and high ground - generally winning or loosing encounter depends on whenever you or the enemy is on highground. Being elevated and pushing down enemies is by far the best strategy one can take. Enemies like to have ridiculus jump and throw distances to counteract being thrown down. Buffing became somewhat more useful to melee characters, but with how many surfaces and guaranteed sources of damage there are, it's difficult to maintain spells for any meaningful amount of time.

Except if you are going for the Confused version of the cheesy Gravecalling combo to spam Chillfogs until the end of time (summon skeletons, kill them with Gravecalling, that creates a foe-only Chillfog, but not foe-only anymore since Confused, summon more skellies, they are all destroyed by Chillfog creating more Chillfogs, etc. etc.) until your GPU commits suicide.

  41. This game is quite brilliant, especially with all the honeybee’s flying. LOVE IT! But coming from a beekeeper like myself. After seeing the hive by the picnic table I thought it was VERY underwhelming, but after collecting a bunch of nectar below it, it had me thinking. They should maybe reallocate it -maybe by the oak or possibly A BEE SUPPER (BEE BOX) Seeming it would make more sense too what I’m about to pitch. So we should be able to traverse the towering bee box, fighting different roles of bees, pupa, and varroa mites and then defeating the queen. It would also make sense to have honey traps to make it more of a challenge. A hive heist would be killer!! Maybe include a rare resource: royal jelly for smoothies, or stealing a “bee egg” to raise so you can ride it. Or by taming one.. Use of bee armor to not alert bees until Initial attack. Granted it does look like the hive is just a placeholder. But it did get my imagination going. Hope this catches Devs eyes Also, maybe include some salamanders and if there’s tadpoles in the pond...BRING THE FROGS, or earthworms?

Put in weevil and honeydew for ant chow. Honeydew and spoiled meat for stinkbug chow. Berry chunk and honeydew for blister chow. You can raise and store your mounts in the paddocks as well as receive resources. Aphids of course produce honeydew. Ants produce acid. Stinkbugs, bombardier beetles, and ladybugs would produce parts from molting.

  43. Some more suggestions and issues! (note: I am playing in online multiplayer mode, the host is on Series X and I am on Xbox One) Issues: -The items in my quick inventory are constantly changing so it puts the important stuff you need to grab really quickly in there in an emergency, such as aphid honeydew and mushrooms.... The placement/order of items in my inventory changes too. I pin items to the quick menu but it still changes all the time! -I often have an item taking up a slot in my inventory but it says x0. If I drop it and pick it up again it will then change to the real number! -Sometimes items aren't grabbable despite the hand symbol/nab showing. I have to keep moving around in different ways and spamming the nab button until it will eventually pick it up -If an item is on a blade of grass (such as an aphid, or drop of water) and you chop the grass down, the item stays floating in midair rather than falling to the ground -It seems disproportionally difficult to get to the top of the bird bath, even with walkthroughs! Not sure how you're supposed to craft the other end of the zipline to get to the right branch. We ended up building a bridge from branch to branch but it just seems a bit out of proportion with the difficulty of getting to the other trail markers -Grass still grows back therefore obscuring the zipline/making you fall off early-I read somewhere that this shouldn't happen, once the zipline is there the grass shouldn't grow back to obscure it? One blade which grew back was going right through the rope Suggestions: -The ability to quick change into the whole set of armour which is on a mannequin -When items fall into the water it would be very handy if they could float to the side to make them accessible (I'm talking planks & weed stems or things which need to be chopped like berries). I heard this was a thing but it doesn't seem to be in my game! -Ability to make a fridge/cool place where food will last longer -Make it so that floor pieces can snap on top of foundations -Ability to consume/apply bandages from the screen where you craft it (in the same way that armour/weapons have a craft & equip option) -Make it so that you can lean ladders up against edges rather than just being straight up and down. It's hard to find places where a straight ladder will actually work! -Half-height ladders like the half height walls. I'm often finding that I need a one and a half ladder's height! -The ability to craft a 'zipline bag' -essentially a small inventory where you can put items (other than grass planks and weed stems) to be sent down ziplines -Ability to name ziplines so that they can say where they go (as ours tend to go between bases)
