  2. (1) Voyager 1 detected 'Hum' in Deep Space - YouTube The best guess is gas of varying density. If interstellar space is full of gas that is curious and possible problematic. Velocity meeting resistance creates (micro)friction. Friction means loss of momentum. Sure we're talking about tiny changes but they would be both cumulative and exponential over time.

  3. warning: sweary is gauche to quote self, but from our first post in the very first covid thread on these boards: "and Americans is just plain stoopid and obtuse at times. US is not china, so is hardly practical to be locking down whole cities and states if it is deemed necessary at some point. got more than a few folks who is gonna see any such government efforts as conspiracy laden fodder and the inevitable precursor to a full scale attack on their personal liberties-- next thing you know, they will be coming for your guns. " the alt-right and no-compromise gun folks aren't afraid of needles or masks. they is afraid of the government, but only the wrong government. the same folks angry at being forced to wear masks is perfect ok with the government stepping in and limiting the first amendment rights of big tech, or the voting rights o' predominant minority communities in pennsylvania or arizona. oh, and don't forget the muslim ban. the sweary guy in the twitter clip gots no problem wearing shoes and a shirt when he enters a soopermarket, but a mask, which contributes to saving the lives o' fellow human beings, is a bridge too far? middle-aged angry guy went on 'bout his Constitutional rights to be free of masks in soopermarkets, but you are gonna be a long time waiting if you expect him or any o' his gadsden flag brethren to identify where in the Constitution such a liberty is codified. hint: no such liberty exists. and even if you believe masks (or vaccines which has been tested for safety, vaccines which after millions o' administered doses we still ain't seen any vaccine related deaths) only provide a small benefit in limiting the spread o' the pandemic, why on earth would you need be told that such actions is compulsory? (btw, practical nobody in the US has been pushing for vaccines to be government requisite compulsory) as such, refusal to wear a mask is kinda an a-hole litmus test more than anything else, no? am nevertheless understanding if pregnant women is reluctant to get vaccinated. there shouldn't be any side effects for the kids o' moms who is vaccinated, but in the past, vaccines has resulted in unforeseen and long term effects on children. should be extreme unlikely, but if a mom decides she is gonna be ultra safe and hold up in her proverbial bunker until after she delivers, then am having a hard time finding any justification for criticism. is a few other folks with allergies and past horrible experiences with vaccines who regardless o' dr. advice may still choose to forgo getting vaccinated and am understanding such fears. however, if the reasons you is against wearing masks or getting vaccinated is some kinda liberty stance, then am disappointed. even so, this situation, from our pov, were complete predictable, and we got the receipts to prove just how predictable it were. HA! Good Fun!

  4. Twister is arguably the best of these generic disaster movies that were all the rage in the mid 90ies. Every time it's on you can count your blessings that it isn't, say, Dante's Peak. Sounds about right, but Ice Age is a more entertaining film than Twister, unless you like disaster porn with mid 90ies special effects and flying cows. Because that's the highlight of the film. A cow caught in a tornado going MOOOOOOOO while it wafts by. Here it is. edit: I should mention that I kind of liked Ice Age, but that's really... really only because the German dub is a lot better than the English original.

  5. I've never seen Twister personally, but especially outside the US a lot of people see it as being the ultimate generic/ formulaic US disaster movie. Based on what I've been told the main objection is... I'd kind of compare it to the hatred 'american cheese' (as in the 'dairy' slices typically used in burgers etc, not kitsch originating in the US) gets. Objectively it's inoffensive and bland, but for some that loops right around and becomes actively offensive. There are two types of people in this world, people who like AotC and people who are wrong.

  6. Most of them are self-contained. It is action-rpg equivalent of Final Fantasy. There are currently only three direct sequels. Xillia 1 and 2, Destiny 1 and 2 and Symphonia with Dawn of the New World. And one very close tie-ins for Zestiria and Berseria (same world but 1000 years appart) and very loose tie-in between Phantasia and Symphonia games. Of course a lot of these games have cameo battles and cameo minigames, which are inspired by previous games, but you do not need to know the backstory to be successful at them. You can randomly pick a game from the big number of titles, and can have fun with it, without any prior knowledge. My only recommendations would be, that do not start with second game from the three twins, I've mentioned. I have randomly picked Tales of Graces F on sale in local brick store, and was so impressed, that I have slowly purchased all the titles available in Europe. Including one Vita exclusive game, for which I've purchased PlayStation TV If you would be interested in trying out the franchise, I can help you out, which game to pick first

  9. no doubt putin has many things on his mind. having individual doctors and covid patients fall from windows is gonna be kinda far down on his personal to do list. 1) navalny 2) have more stripper poles installed at the pleasure palace 3) navalny 4)boris mikhailov refused an invitation to my hockey event. "seventy six years old," is hardly a decent excuse. maybe he suffers an "icing" penalty from which he never recovers... 5) navalny 6) navalny etc. putin, whatever his flaws, ain't an idiot. HA! Good Fun!

  10. My wife got sick on Mother's day so today I made her chicken noodle soup. I'd never made it completely* from scratch before so it was fun. *okay, not completely. The chicken was 2 day old rotisserie and I did add a little Better Than Buillon because I didn't have enough "scraps" to make the broth chickeny enough.

  12. Netflix tried to recommend Cardcaptor to me a few weeks ago, and I ended up putting it on my watchlist and will probably give an episode or two a try at some point. Might not be Sailor Moon, but it may or may not work as a sort of substitute if I really want something kind of like it, .

  14. I have, by the way, finished the first arc of the Sailor Moon manga. While this is - for reasons we now know - by no means a masterpiece it's better than Crystal. Giraffes or no, there's something beautiful about the artstyle, minimalistic as it was out of necessity. We already talked at length about this, but there were a few things that the anime dropped that nobody missed. Maybe I'm subjected to the SuperS/Sailor Stars conundrum. Does it look better just because Crystal was so bad? Who knows. Can't say I'm looking forward to the Black Moon arc, but perhaps that will turn out better than Crystal's version too. I'm fairly confident that I'll manage to finish the manga by the time the Eternal movie pair hits Netflix though. I've also watched three more episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura. I might have mentioned this once or twice, but everything about this is adorable, and it looks like this was the antecedent for Puella Magi Madoka Magica. There's an episode with a school festival where Yukito and Toya (i.e. Sakura's crush and her brother) are playing in a theater rendition of Cinderella. Toya plays Cinderella, while Yukito is the can of mackerels that grants Cinderella her wish... yeah, this isn't entirely faithful, but hey, neither is Disney's version. In the original the evil stepmother mutilates the feet of the equally evil stepsisters so they fit into the glass slipper, and Grimm adapted it further to have birds hack out their eyes when they come to Cinderella's wedding ceremony. Karma's a bitch, bitches. Anyway, so random one off character Yoko, who plays the prince that marries Cinderella, has a crush on Toya, but there's this rumor that he's blown off every single last girl that asked him out, and they all wonder why Yukito and Toyo are both still single. I wonder why that is. There's a certain beauty in this bewilderment, of course, because that implies that nobody thinks it's totally gay for guys to play Cinderella. She tells him about her feelings, but he tells her that he's already in love with someone else (hint: It's Yukito girl, really!). She apologizes to him because she's going to cry now. Poor girl, work on your gaydar a bit, I've figured this out in the first episode simply because Yukito has the same voice actor as Shinji and Haruka. Yoko and Toya, prince and soon to be princess. In the play, at least. I'm pretty sure Yoko is supposed to be a deliberate Revolutionary Girl Utena reference. Can't be 100% sure as this isn't nearly as subtle as Sailor Moon was in establishing that Ami and Makoto are really in love with each other.

  15. Kozue’s team wins a game but Mr. Hongo thinks the victory was not decisive enough, Kozue gets whacked with the ball some as punishment, then the girls find out that their former team member Yuri has been secretly informing the other teams about their strategy. Lots of slaps, tears and a heart rending secret later Yuri drops volleyball for good an resolves to become a track and field star. She even makes up with her stepmother. I’m beginning to see why I liked watching this. Still too much volleyball but more character drama too now. Should have kept a slap counter. So far Kozue slapped Midori and Yuri while Yuri’s stepmom slapped her and someone on the team slapped someone once for wanting to give up. The current episode has the girls make some mistakes because they are nervous before the next game. More hard training ensues. Two instances of the girls calling their chubbier team member a lardass round the dated feel out rather nicely.

I generally end up probably doing some combination of: recreating all my songs save/reload changing songs i don't think i've needed to respec. earlier versions was much worse. i'm not even sure if respec consistently fixed it. i think i abandoned tekehu in one run while waiting for a patch.

  22. From a different corner of the world, which we rarely hear about... maybe because there are so few (or no) French posters here https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/5/11/france-macron-govt-military-clash-over-civil-war-warning “We are not talking about extending your mandates or conquering others. We are talking about the survival of our country, the survival of your country,” said the latest letter, which was addressed to Macron and his cabinet. The authors described themselves as soldiers from the younger generation of the military, a so-called “generation of fire” that had seen active service." I first picked up on this story a few days ago on the BBC site, but apparently there is a growing conflict between the French army and the French government. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57055154 "French soldiers warn of civil war in new letter" "The letter to the government last month came from semi-retired generals. The minister in charge of the armed forces, Florence Parly, said they would be punished for defying a law that forbids reservists or serving members of the military from expressing opinions in public on religion and politics." I should stock of on Cognac while there is still peace in France...

  23. The way of the househusband. The animation is ****, while it's not a cgi abomination it's very static and feels closer to a series of stills than properly animated. But it is, and I do not say this lightly, absolutely hilarious. The premise is a former yakuza is now a househusband and it follows his adventures like trying to clean the house or feuding with a crepe vendor. Each episode is less than 20 minutes and composed of several vignettes, so it doesn't take long to watch. And that would be the most normal thing to happen.

  24. ^^^ I wonder if making things like that would be too hard to balance and control proper spawn rates... I dunno. So evidently these bugs are simply programmed to be hostile to certain other insects and not others. I hadn't realized that before, but it makes sense.

  25. Yep my base is on the wooden wall so I see Orb Weavers all the time. They often step over weevils and ants and I've only ever seen them once kill a mite. They won't fight Bombardier beetles at all. Only the stink bug elicits an aggressive response every time. Traversing the garden should be like traversing a war zone.
