  2. The political spectrum is a horseshoe not a straight line. The extremes on the left and on the right have more in common with each other than either does with the middle.

  8. Getting down on some moonshine made right here in cackalacky: It's quite tasty and smooth, sweeter than I expected; it's almost like a liqueur. I'm drinking it straight at room temperature, it doesn't need ice, nor a mixer, nor a chaser. If I wind up passed out face down in the middle of my living room, y'all know why.

  11. Having a game set in the "past" of PoE (or in the present but in areas which aren't explored yet and are just more archaic) with Deadfire's mechanics but more tyranny-esque vibes doesn't sound like a bad idea.

  12. I started up Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts. I've never played any of the games in the series before, but I went ahead and started playing on Deadeye (Hard) difficulty. This game is supposedly Hitman-ish, and I fancy myself pretty good at Hitman and always play on the hardest difficulty available, so I'm feeling frisky. So far it's aight. It looks pretty nice for a budget title, though the whole game takes place in Siberia, so I suspect is will look quite samey (snow, snow, snow, but look over there, it's snow). I do like having to hold my breath to temporarily reduce sway and having to compensate for wind and bullet drop. I appreciate it when games have proper projectile physics and conventional guns don't magically shoot like lasers. I also like that I can go prone and crawl. Not nearly enough games let you go prone. You can crouch is 95% of games, but very few actually let you go prone.

  16. I'm holding out hope that Microsoft buys the rights for Tyranny outright. I don't think Paradox will actually use them and I'm not sure how much their bean counters will value the property at. Honestly, I don't think it'd cost them that much, relatively speaking. I think there's plenty of room for Obsidian to make games for two different fantasy franchises especially since they're so stylistically different.

  18. Funny, China would say the exact same things about the US. As would DPRK, indeed the US and ROK hold annual, and literal, simulated invasions of the North, and somehow that isn't aggressive but purely defensive and DPRK getting upset and thinking they're cover for an actual invasion is propaganda beyond belief. Not to mention the old joke about how Iran/ Syria/ Russia/ whoever aggressively and without provocation site their countries near US bases. Russia has held war games in the same area every year, for decades, and every year they get reported as a military build up and precursor to the imminent invasion of Ukraine. 2020 2019 2018 2017 2016 2015 It's not more or less aggressive than anyone else holding war games close to a border, or NATO holding them in Poland or the Baltics or whatever.

  19. Hi, I can not switch between Creative and Survival. Is it possible to start a game in Creative Mode, build some things, then load into that same game in Survival instead to play with friends? I don't know if this makes a difference, but I am on Xbox? Also, Some Suggestion for improvements? In Build Mode, the ability to "Mirror" objects. Namely, the newly added Spiral staircases. Also, there are no "Ceilings". I know you can use floor panels, but then the new FireFly Hanging lights don't hang from the Floor Panels? Only from Roof Panels.

  21. I also never take the Killers upgrade but will often pick Ben Fidel's Neck because its debuff stacks with all single defense debuffs. Which is great against some tough nuts. Also there's some enemies with immunity/resistance against DEX affliction - then Ben Fidel's Neck is a nice alternative because there is no resistance/immunity against it.

  22. You won't do a huge amount of weapon damage with this. Weapon+Shield style is slow and clubs have low base damage. Your weapon damage will definitely be eclipsed by Her Revenge alone. Her Revenge is good and since you're a Fighter who will move in to get surrounded, Seven Nights can deal out big damage. The key to making a guy/gal like this shine would be to leverage their tankiness to invite aggro, get up in enemies' faces, and smash them up with those close range invocations. That, at least, is the synergy that strikes me. I'd get rid of Ancient Memory for Seven Nights and Unbreakable for Her Tears Fell (never much liked on-death effects - if the character is good you shouldn't be using it). @dgray62 is right about Ancient Memory. You won't notice it with your other healing. I disagree with dgray about Ben Fidel being better than Killers/And Their Fear. As a Skald, Ben Fidel costs 50% more resource than Killers. Big deal because Skalds chain invocations quickly. Comparing them 1 to 1, you can cast Killers three times with the resources it takes to cast Ben Fidel twice. With high INT (you'll have with Tactical Barrage and investment) the hard CC from Paralysis lasts a solid time, and debuffs the enemies for both Her Revenge and Seven Nights. The Frighten is very much worth it in my opinion - shutting off enemies' dangerous abilities is great, their power level is lowered, their will, deflection, and resistance to hostile effects are lowered. And you can chain between paralysing them and frightening them. The point of being a Skald is to cast invocations a lot, and casting an invocation resets your chant progression. For this reason, Skalds don't get to benefit from many chants too often. Getting rid of AM, you still have three, which is fine, but you might find yourself barely benefiting from one or two. Also, I don't think Weapon Specialization will do much because, as I said, I don't see you doing much weapon damage. You'll use the weapon to debuff and farm crits for phrases. So, if it were me, I'd take out weapons specialization and/or a chant and put in Their Champion braved the Horde Alone and/or Charge. Energized can be awesome, and I personally like to play Fighters by Charging into the middle of enemies from stealth (your choice to see if you like this - this character might prefer to have enemies start closing in before paralysing them and then dismantling them). Hope this is helpful and not too far from your original vision. Just finishing up a Skald playthrough now myself.

  23. I wouldn't recommend taking ancient memory. The healing it provides is very negligible, and your fighter already has great healing with constant recovery and unbending. The ...And Their Fear Followed Them upgrade also isn't worth it IMO. Instead, I'd recommend that you get Reny Daret's Ghost and the upgrade Ben Fidel's neck, which frightens for much longer and debuffs all defenses. It's a much better invocation.

  24. I don't usually post to game forums, but my friend and I love playing this game so much, we can spend hours together in this beautiful world Obsidian has crafted for us. So I really wanted to sign up and give my input on what to see in future updates. My friend and I both play on PC; they play with a KB+M, I play with an Xbox Series S controller. I'll go through my thoughts one by one. I'm a bit of a slow reader so I skipped to the last page of this thread, and so if I repeat anything already suggested, consider it a +1 from me! As @PhilKill2 already said, one thing my friend and I are always wanting is a minimap. I can see the argument against it, but I think it would be cool if you could toggle it in the settings. The menu is kind of cumbersome to get through even with a controller, and the map is something I am constantly having to bring up even when utilizing markers. I have a hard time with spacial orientation and even after hours of gameplay I have a really hard time figuring out where I am without using the map at some point in my journey. We like the idea of being able to "farm" aphids. Looking at the Grounded Feature Board, I see something called "Insect Pets Phase 1: Aphids" and I'm not sure what that will entail, but I like these ideas: being able to lure them into a fenced off area, using them to farm meat and aphid dew, and also having to protect them from ladybugs and ants. My friend was quite disappointed to hop into Creative mode and see that there are no bug spawns. We both hoped it would be similar to another game, where you would have the ability to craft and have non-hostile mobs, and it also sounded perfect for a future photo mode, to be able to get cool shots set up with bugs. We would love the ability to have Creative mode with non-hostile mobs (although, maybe they could become hostile if you attack first?) A list of bugs we'd be thrilled to see added to the game, even if the idea of some of them terrify us: mantids, butterflies, and centipedes; as well as seasonal bugs, like june beetles during the day and cicadas at night in the summer. Cicada shells would be an interesting material to craft with. They also aren't all bugs, we also discussed worms after rain, and seasonal frogs in the pond during summer, after a spring of tadpoles. One idea that I love is being able to reach the picnic table, and the wood being infested with termites, which is that region's ant replacement. I see that Weather is already on the Feature Board, but I hope that seasons are too. Maybe not extreme winter with snow as that might be too difficult and kill most insects, but a light frost would be neat. One complaint we have is that our first server was set to Medium difficulty, and at a certain point we were kind of stuck in a rut because we couldn't get strong enough to take on more powerful bugs like wolf spiders. Actually, my friend almost wanted to stop playing due to how often they were being massacred en masse by groups of mosquitos. We were also both wearing acorn armor in this instance. So we made a new Mild save and it's almost too easy. It is still very fun, obviously, as we spend hours playing it, but we don't hold much fear if at all for the mobs. Maybe we're just bad players lol, but the spike in difficulty seems pretty extreme to us? We would love to see a system that scales difficulty based on the amount of players with a hard limit set by the server host. I actually end up changing my SCA.B themes quite often for fun and would love even more! I would like more diverse colours, too. There was one SCA.B suggestion I have that is new, which is the ability to play music tracks. We would really like to be able to swim while holding grass planks or weed stems. This is just a flavor text thing, but me and my friend was really hoping that if we both pressed X on BURG.L at the same time, we could revive him faster. We wanted to help him together, lol! Also, at one point in the game, my friend played as Max and I as Pete. I was halfway across the map, and Max triggered the explosion of the Oak Lab. This triggered Pete and Max's dialogue, but the dialogue is saying Pete pressed the button. I assume this is because there isn't more dialogue yet to work with, or is a bug. But, we would love to see more interactions like that. Right now the voice lines are pretty repetitive and we savour all the little moments when the kids talk to each other and interact. Maybe branching dialogue options depending on if other characters are in the lobby while there's a dialogue currently going. So that if it's just characters A and B, the dialogue ends, but if character C is in the server, there's more dialogue. The kids all have personality even with the little lines we have so far and we'd love to hear more of them interacting. Finally, it would be cool to have a way to purify dirty water, as well as more food sources that require higher tiers to mine, like totally unbranded nacho cheese flavor-blasted tortilla chips (cough), or a blue electrolyte sports drink that gives you a small, temporary boost to stamina. If you made it here, thanks for giving my post a read and listening to my input. I'm looking forward to whatever you guys are gonna put out!
