  5. Seeing "Aedyran Galawain" in the trailer reminded me of the Cinders of Faith side quest in Pillars 1. Fyrga offered us a glimpse into how the some of the Dyrwood viewed Magran; concerned with martial excellence and strategic prowess, strong but not brutal, etc. Ostensibly, this perspective is a meme (I'm using technical definition of the word here) that has evolved from, but is still based on the regions Aedyran roots. All this to say that I think a statue of Magran depicted as a young, vibrant woman in full armor is the reason that most of us saw a majestic human with a wolf and immediat

  6. Hello Tom! I know there are some issues with things not respawning due to the freezing time issue, so I'm not sure if that is the case in your game. There is also the issue of tier 2 weeds not respawning properly. Clay, Dandelions, Grass, and Quartzite should all respawn after 72 hours pass and then sleeping at a lean-to, but the Quartzite at the mite cave will not respawn. Sorry for a lack of presence on the forums as we are very short handed and are trying to get more help here soon. If you have any issues to report or feedback to provide, please let us know at support@obsidian.

  7. Been my "place I'd want to live most assuming I could still make a living there" for many years. Beautiful, remote, of little strategic importance and therefore unlikely to face threats anytime in the future(?), weather's pretty close to what I'd consider ideal (despite its name, it's apparently not even as cold on average as Minnesota!), low population, very low crime, a little more Freedom(TM)-loving than most other European countries (look at them guns - politely and responsibly used unlike much of the U.S., too!), a little funny-sounding but nice enough language, high standard of living...

  10. Depends on the setting and rules, but if we talk origin then Ghouls are from Arabic folklore and they eat corpses, Zombies are from Haiti (?) and they are eating the living. So basically they differ in diet.

  12. Earlier this year I did the carnivore diet for a little over 2 months and wound up losing 20 lbs. I am happy to report that a bit over 3 months after stopping the diet and going back to eating more balanced I have not gained a single pound back. I think the main factor is that I have stayed away from refined sugar like the plague. Refined sugar is enemy #1.

  13. I should probably note that the first lecture I give in class at the beginning of the year is about trusting sources. Basically I tell them not to trust any source. Do not trust the internet, do not trust the textbook, and do not trust the teacher. Even be wary of the many primary sources that I throw at them over the course of the year. Instead, weigh as much evidence as you can find and think critically about them all. Identify bias and come to your own conclusions. It's not my job to tell you what is right or wrong, it is my job to help you develop the skills to make your own judgements.

  16. The "Revolutionary Communist Party" of the US has endorsed Joe Biden: https://revcom.us/index.html Wow. Did you guys know the US has more than one Communist Party? I didn't. Well, the CPUSA, the REAL US Communist Party endorsed Barack Obama.... twice. For whatever that's worth. They did not endorse Clinton and I would be somewhat surprised if Biden gets a nod. But.... never know. This news is a bit of a nothing burger. Just posting as a curiosity.

  18. Making one from scratch is a lot more difficult and time consuming. Translation is one of those unfortunate jobs that is difficult to do well but where errors are fairly easy to spot if you have reasonable knowledge of both language and context. So, correcting a faulty translation is a lot easier and quicker than making one from scratch -- and this, by the way, is precisely the reason why publishing houses have editors and proofreaders whose job is extremely important. I personally want my editor to be as harsh and nitpicky as possible, because although the criticism I receive may not feel nic

  21. I'm thinking you'd probably be completely safe from zombies depending on how far from shore that place is. Just basing that on bodies decaying at about twice the speed in water. I think Gromnir is probably correct about the only possible concern being a floater and even then who knows what condition it'd even arrive in. Suggestion, flush twice.

  22. Hello. I'm playing multiplayer with a friend currently, and enjoying the game so far. We've had no major issues until today when we installed the 0.1.1 patch. It seems today that the game crashes on the host every time we kill an insect; gnat, ant, spider, doesn't matter which one. It always crashes when we land the killing blow. When the game crashes, the application terminates on the host (no error message) and the other players just disconnect and are brought back to the lobby. Hope this issue is resolved quickly. The game is very entertaining otherwise. Thanks in advance.

  23. yeah i always found fireball kind of an underwhelming spell, but it's popular. Nuking against high hp enemies is hard, and really forces a nuker to explore the available spells. Grimoires make this... not easy, but doable at least. Quicksave a game before a tough fight and play through the fight a couple of times with different grimoires to test different spells and how they work for you. Getting to know the wizard spell catalog takes time, but it's rewarding. I agree with @thelee's spell recommendations for nuking, and I would add something: the anchored ray family of spells ar

  24. First of all: even though I will argue against, I don't necessary disagree with you. I find it difficult to believe that with MS money and making Skyrim-like game, and having a choice between Both FP&TP, or just FP or TP Obsidian would choose just FP. Now as to Grounded - as far as I have seen the combat in that game is not particularly interesting. It's neither good first person combat, nor third person combat - just swinging a thing in your hand until an enemy dies. Whenever camera is FP and TP or top down - it doesn't really matter, because mechanics aren't complex. It is also pos

  25. Weird, that's already a part of curriculum standards in California. In general, history textbooks and standardized curriculum for children is watered down and whitewashed (trigger word! ) You are talking about the most basic of tools in a teacher's tool chest. We didn't go to college for 4 years, then another year of credentialing, then a year of student teaching, and years of professional development afterwards to mindlessly teach from a textbook. Then again, K-5 education often ignores history as an important subject. I get it, K-5 educators are usually teaching ELA, Math, Scien

  26. If this is a rpg just copy S.P.E.C.I.A.L from Fallouts, worked well with Fallout 3 and New Vegas. If this is an arpg just copy Souls-system. Pillars-systems would work well too. I really hope this is a real rpg.

  27. There's an issue with multiplayer base building (I am on xbox one) where those players that are not the host glitch out and trip over any walls that have been placed under a floor. It makes multiple layer base building in other friends games very difficult, or makes bases look very incomplete. If there was a fix for where wall(s) hitbox met floor(s) hitbox, that would be so greatly appreciated.

  28. Concealment/Scrapper has excellent single target burst nowadays. The vanish is still base 2 min, but that's plenty for PVP -- the idea is that you don't vanish more than once per fight because you can just go around the corner and rest heal yourself to full, and come back to troll them some more. Bioware also caught on about stealth rezzing and made just about every other boss "radiate" low raid-wide damage to pull you out of stealth to put a stop to that in phases where it would otherwise be workable. Still, It's the class with the single highest utility in both PVP and ops, with a raid buff,

  32. So in the end, localization of text heavy games is an unsolved problem currently. Such is life, I guess. Obsidian also chose to release the game despite knowing for sure there were still many bugs left. But what can you do? Taking five more years to make the game perfect isn't ideal either.

  33. After writing my reply to Josh Sawyer, I started wondering about the same question. It would be interesting to know the finances of, say, the Italian translation. I.e. how much it cost and how much business it generated among people who only play in Italian. Of course I'm not going to get that information. If I was Obsidian, I would quite possibly just ditch the idea of localization, but this is mainly because I know how difficult it is to get a good translation of something like this, and because I certainly wouldn't accept a bad one. But I am not Obsidian, so of course I cannot really s

It would be a good quality of life improvement if you changed the way you switch ammo for the bows in you set it up for short presses to cycle through the ammo and holding down the button to pull up the radial dial. Switching the key bind for ammo switching to R and setting Throw to Middle Mouse button. Another idea I'd love to see is Jumping spiders in the game, such as the Canopy Jumping Spider(Pics Below) which are about half the size of the Wolf Spider IRL.

  38. Well maybe US should disband this thousands of law enforcement agencies and create one stable police force like a sane country would do? Just a thought. I don't think you realize how ridiculous and bizarre your talk about "escalation" is to people outside the US. We had last year 111 thousand drunk drivers pulled over, you know how many escalated to violence and someone being injured or killed? Zero, null, nada. I like the police force, I support them, but man US need to get it together in that department.

Just sayin. i someone who hates survival games in general and doesnt play them, my friend and i are having an absolute BLAST playing this. i hope this remains accessible as it is for us carebears

  41. I don't think manual saves should be removed, you can just avoid saving, this way the game is more accessible for everyone. Regarding the threats in the game i think you had a rather peculiar experience, i'm also playing on Woah difficulty and more often than not the only chance you have is to run. Thank god we can do that. It's also a matter of "realism", since we are self-conscious and more self-aware than animals it makes sense for us to be able to outsmart them. It's in early access so is still a work in progress.

  42. Loving the game. Just some things that I thought could be improved. - Armour/Weapon/Tools/Resources shouldn't occupie space in our bag if it's equipped. - Could be a option to auto-organize bag/chest (Like "My Time at Portia") - If there is option to "Take all" from the chest, should be one "Leave all" - Build new bags with more space - Need a "Stats" screen to see how our character is doing (If armour give some benefits, etc) - An XP evolution with perks could be cool - Add Grappling hook and rope
