  1. Just finished Tokyo Xanadu. I'll write up my final thoughts on it later. For now I need some sleep (it's past 1AM right now), but suffice it to say, I liked it enough to stay up late four nights in a row playing it.

  2. Or alternatively, have you tried playing Majesty instead?

  3. I liked how different classes interacted. Rangers backing up Barbarians. Healers following Paladins and Monks around. Cultists of Fervus... doing whatever the mushroom induced hallucinations and 4th wall breaking told them.

  5. Ok, let's think again. I'm interested with this and we can discuss it here to make some "to do" list, and i can start doing something on weekend. I should also check my own notes... And maybe try to contact with Max and ask his permission, in case if he don't want to be involved in modding. In any case, we can do some nice little things.

  6. Agreed! With three people active, the challenge has a pulse again. We'll soon have it up on its feet, dancing the jitterbug! Best, A. Btw, thanks for the compliment on Astrid. In BG play I had a favorite character, Alesia, a bounty hunter- which as you've surely guessed is where my forum name comes from. Playing Alesia solo no reload style is what really made me learn the game. I'm hoping Astrid will be the same for me in PoE.

  7. Victory! Ok after studying abilities etc shuffling gear etc I got to near the dragon with all consumable slots organized and lots of food (chicken, beef, jerky, and pie) x6 eat up. Put a priest level 2 spell of sealing and a trap from my rogue. At dialogue with Adra Dragon everyone ate a Bulwark potion and retreated behind traps. Nobody injured/prone by wing buffet except Eder and Zahua and they have passive healing. The Dragon and Adragans advanced on them. The retreated people summoned some allies Adra Beetle to distract from finishing off Eder and Zahua. Durance granted a Crown of Faithful and Aspiring Aggrandizing Radiance. Meanwhile Maneha was wielding the Blade of the Endless paths (marking) and she cast two buffs while durance was buffing. One for the whole team from scroll to enhance defenses. My MC Rogue cast protection from fear and he was wielding a wand (that not usually use) because it had marking. He also cast his spell that buffs up all his stats as being a main character to go to Act 3. The Grieving Mother also made use of the 2 rounds not sure maybe a scroll of valor? Then we readvanced with Maneha and my Rogue MC using marking weapons soon the Grieving Mother hit with Whispers of Treason and got over 20 seconds of Charm. While the Adra Dragon killed Adragans and other enemies our crew healed, buffed, helped kill Xaurips and Adragans. So at this point we are a highly buffed team facing a lone Adra Dragon. My MC shot with his unqique blunderbuss leadspitter and scored a Blindness critical hit which gave 20 seconds blindness. Then critical hit with a withering attack his other uqique gun forgiveness (sneak/deathblow) for more massive damage. He then spammed One handed melee attacks with Resoultion (durganned and cold lash). He was the MVP in terms of dealing damage. Everyone else made use of their time (example Durance resurrected the Grieving Mother) and by this point the battle was already decided. Victory and DING level up to level 14!

  8. I'm watching some Another Life just in the vague hope there's something worthwhile in it. I hate everyone in it. Apparently a second season has been greenlit.

  9. ah thanks. clearly i've never really used it one thing to consider is that despite power strike being really heavy-hitting, it costs something like 4 discipline, so you are not going to be able to use it very often throughout a fight. you might therefore be better with a less-heavy-hitting power that you can use more often. getting invisible repeatedly to proc assassinate mid-fight is hard and/or expensive, but not impossible. a single-class assassin could do even better in terms of pure damage just with high intellect, high dex, dual-wielding, ooblit, and vanishing strikes. you'll get like 5-6x the attacks, which will totally dwarf the non-multiplicative +200% damage bonus from power strike.

  11. Soul Annihilation seems to be better in Turn Based Mode than in RTwP - because you can hardly miss. The biggest meh-moment with Soul Annihilation usually is when you count on it and then it misses, taking all your focus with it.

  12. The char: devoted is great, just make sure you pick a piercing or slashing weapon (you already have blunt via your fists) for damage diversity. sounds like you were looking at swords, so you're already there (and sword and great sword arguably benefit the most from the devoted's +2 PEN). soul blade is less great. i think many people would recommend beguiler, but as a martial/caster multiclass a soul blade isn't a bad choice thanks to the concentration you can keep gaining and the ability to dump all your focus if need be (due to action economy constraints). perhaps in turn-based soul blade multiclass is even better than beguiler due to the more stringent action economy - you'll basically find it much harder to generate focus, use powers, and use fighter attacks due to turn-based messing up the action economy, but if all else fails you can just max out your focus and dump it in one big soul annihilation attack (might want to beef up your might since a devoted is not going to have many damage bonuses for it unlike, say, a rogue). In turn-based mode, dual-wielding is less all-around the best. You get a -35% inverted penalty to all attacks (not just full attack abilities), putting it roughly on par with 2h weapons, except dual-wielding is generally going to be -1 PEN compared to similar 2h weapons. Because of turn-based mechanics, while having high initiative isn't great it isn't nearly as bad as having high recovery time in real-time mode (because you're always guaranteed a turn per round). So while dual-wielding is still solid, it's no longer the general DPS king in turn-based mode. The party: what about sidekicks? with all the DLC they have decent reactivity (though not in base game, and nothing like reputations with your other party members). Mirke is a perfect fit for partyingpirating. Even though Fassina is vailian being a sidekick she won't ditch you for being treacherous. If you haven't played in a long while (welcome back!) Vatnir is an amazing sidekick, but comes kinda late. Also - why not principi? You can support Furrante if you want to go the slavery route, but I think you lose Maia at that point.

  13. The arena style DLC isn't my problem with it (even though it definitely wouldn't have been my personal choice). It is that they decided to drop it where they did in the timeline of the main campaign. FS at least "fits" as a sort of endgame thing, even though that too screws up the pacing. But SSS just feels completely out of place for the time where you get access to it. Like you said, would've been way cooler to have it accessible from the start of the game and have it running with increasing difficulty throughout. Sort of a thing to return to as you play.

  14. It was an arena-like DLC because that's what player feedback wished for. You can hardly blame Obsidian for giving players what they wanted. If a combat-focused DLC isn't your cup of tea that's one thing, but that does not mean it wasn't a good move. Also it seems that SSS could reuse a lot of assets of the original game. There are few new enemy models. Then the simple story arc means that the writing might have been less expensive. All in all it seems to be a DLC that didn't cost as much to make as BoW or FS. And if it sold not considerably worse than the other two one could consider the release of SSS a smart move even. I personally enjoyed it. I could agree however that a combat-heavy DLC would make more sense if it started right with the beginning of the game (where you could start with easy fights and slowly climb the ranks) and you could use the nice loot you get from winning arena fights much earlier.

  15. First things first: drop some summons crom figurines in the path of the dragon to buy some casting time. Next cast Prayer against fear (Durance). The Dragon terrifies with an aura and no defense (unless super maxed out Will) can prevent you from getting grazed at some point. Terrify will lower your accuracy a ton (-20) which is especially bad against bosses with high defenses. Buff ACC with Durance. Devotions + Inspiring Radiance asap. Then: Adra Dragon is not immune to mind control. I find the Adragans (are there any on normal diff.?) more annoying than the dragon itself. If you charm her she will not only destroy them for you but also Charm is a hefty debuff. In order to charm you can cast Tactical Meld onto Edér while he's attacking the Dragon and then use Whisper of Treason or Munacra Arret (if you don't have enough focus). This should give you +50 ACC (Devotions or Borrowerd Instinct + Tactical Meld + Radiance) for Grieving Mother's Whisper of Treason (which itself has a +10 ACC if I'm not mistaken). If you use Tactical Meld on Edér you can also prone the dragon rel. reliably. Same with Zahua with Force of Anguish - althoug it might be better to use his dichotomous summons to distract the dragon. One thing that works very well in that fight is the Long Pain. It has tremendous ACC values which helps a lot against targets you want to hit hard and reliably but don't want to get too close. All active monk abilites (including Force of Aguish) can be used with the Long Pain. Maneha can be used to care for the Xaurip ads etc.. Against dragons Barbarians aren't particularly helpful but hey can clear trash really quickly. Oce you can reliably charm and later prone the dragon when you need to it's a cakewalk. Marking weapons on Edér (Shame or Glory or Cladhaliath or Blade of the Endless Paths or Spectacular Spetum) will give Grieving Mother another +10 ACC for her charms. I think you lack a bit of CC optios for all the ads though. A Wizard or Druid would be nice to have. Grieving Mother can do the same with Amplified Wave or Ringleader and such (very good powers) - but not if she's constantly trying to charm the dragon and will struggle with focus gain anyway. In my optinion the Alpine Dragon is harder than the Adra Dragon. But since the place is more crowded you can often manage to place enemies between you and him. The problem with lpine Dragon is that he has Sneak Attack + Deathblows. So you don't want to get hit by two afflictions and then tank him... Also here charm + prone work very well. The only dragon who can't be charmed is one oth the two bog dragons (can't remember which one). Which isn't a problem because there's another one and as long as they fight each other you can smile and clap. If you haven't already done it I would start with the Sky Dragon since that's the easiest one of the bunch.

  17. Three is the perfect number indeed.... "And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. "

  18. Yeah, generalizing generally makes yourself look bad, not the stuff you're generalizing. Sometimes the devil is in the detail. Claiming 70% of kickstarters leads nowhere and linking to documentation for it is a fair go at the type of platform. Claiming they're all scams means, you lose the argument already at best, getting accused of libel at worst. My own, anecdotal experiences so far with kickstarter has been positive. The 3 games I supported all came out and delivered (and then some) what I expected. Pillars of Eternity, STASIS and Expeditions: Conquistador. https://store.steampowered.com/app/291650/Pillars_of_Eternity/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/380150/STASIS/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/237430/Expeditions_Conquistador/

  20. I guess I figured it out. It doesn't record travel time as time spent in party. (It might not record resting as time spent in party as well but I didn't test that out.) Travel time also seems a little borked maybe. I tested this out with my early saves.. So my character left Cilant LIs with 6 hours in party, 0 travel time and 8 hours Elapsed time (2 hours knocked out?.. I don't know.) Arrived at Valewood with 6 hours in party, 6 hours travel time 14 hours elapsed time. I then ran down the road and directly exited the other side to get to Gilded Vale.. 8 hour journey, Elapsed Time 22 hours, Travel time 14 hours ?? 7 hours spent in party. All in all it has no bearing on anything.. but since I just noticed it today I guess I felt the need to figure out what was going on.

  22. I enjoyed your last post, Serg. It looks like Astrid and Grim Face are in the same place. First round at the Hound is on Astrid! Astrid has no intention of going anywhere near that cave, but I appreciated your bear fight battle report. It was like a refresher course on early game party play. The Disappointer idea was cool, too Good hunting! A.

  23. ^ My fave unit in Majesty was the Monks. Especially before they patched it so units couldn't pick up more than one of those stats types ground loot items, which Monks loved to pick up. When they'd picked up maybe 4 or 5 of those they were literally invulnerable. It's the reason I'd install it from original disc and play it for a while like that before patching it. Good times.

  24. The problem I have with this mid game ones is that they tend to feel really disconnected with the main game. Example, White March... it might be the best part of the first game but going to do that and then returning to a lower quality game is really jarring.

  25. Grim Face (Hearth Orlan, Priest of Eothas) & Co - Part 1 - Intro The Bears are gone down. Since we were going to rest back in Gilded Vale anyway, we went 'all in' vs them. Grim Face placed Repulsing Seal in advance for the emergency sake (if Bears went past Eder), Eder opened with bow shot to start combat, Grim Face fired Inspiring Radiance>Armor of Faith buffs, Aloth hit with Chill Fog>Arcane Blast>Curse of Blackened Sight for mature Bear (Chill Fog target Fortitude - the Bear's highest defense, while Curse target Will - the lowest one). Young Bears went down really quick but mature Bear hit Eder hard so Grim Face fired Iconic Projection and hit Bear with Halt spell to lower their Dex (by 2), Accuracy (by 5) and most importantly Deflection (by 20). Aloth fired some MMM and Bear gone down. Back in Gilded Vale we let Nonton and Ingroed go in peace to build their new (hopefully happier) life, got new recipe from Tenfrith, rest (for Dyrwood's Pride Resting bonus) and enchanted The Disappointer Pistol with Accurate enchantment making it the best and most damaging weapon available for us at the moment. I didn't particularly favor firearms in PoE before but with some Deadfire experience I've changed my mind and not that strict at them anymore. They are partucularly convenient for casters in Deadfire (still need to test how this work in PoE) since they are great for Hit-n-Cast approach, allowing to cast a spell immediately after shooting bypassing recovery stage unlike all other weapons: With all that done now the true Adventure begins! to be continued...

  26. I agreed, but damage part is very minor, only 10-14 - you can't do any serious damage with this ability, then is unnecessary to change it. But with Discipline cost=1 you can spam pulling. Anyway, what's the problem with vanilla "Into the Fray"? No, every opinion is appreciated. P.S. @Boeroer I like the idea of Priest subclasses bonuses from this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/363 What do you say? Basically it's what we wanted to do via trinkets.

  27. @Boeroer Ha-ha, u miss me. That's sweet. I was busy IRL + some troubles, so i almost forgot about computer games. As for Deadfire... game has some fundamental problems, which no one can resolve. I stopped work on my own translation mod, because i was tired of this game for a moment. As for some changes... Let me explain: 1) Into the Fray (and upgrades) : - Cost reduced 2->1 Discipline First, you want to lower resource consumption, ok. - Damages reduced : 10-14 -> 5-10 (to prevent spamming it as an instant damage ability) Second, your previous change opening a way to abuse, and you forced to patch it. In other words: you create a problem, and then you solving your own problem. It's an autism (yes, my favorite word) of some kind. That's not how the things works. From a wide perspective, your changes should not create a problems, but only resolve ones. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's been a while since CP release and i bet you have some feedback, which can be used to create patch/addon for CP. In this case i need a list. @Boeroer have you tried to contact with Max?

  29. Conan Exiles again. This game just has such a good balance of exploration, crafting, and violence. I've got a cozy little home right now with a few thralls, but I think it is time to relocate off the newbie river. Almost level 30.

  32. Mortification works, yes. Enervating Blows' Weakenend will not override Enfeebled. It will simply get suppressed. Parting Sorrow: only when they break engagement with you. In other words: when you would get a disengagement attack against them. Push effects and all afflictions that cancel engagement (terrify, paralyze and so on) will not trigger disengagement attacks. First the engagement gets canceled and then the effect (in this case pushing) takes place. No "breaking" and no disengagement attack here. The Outward Spike's strike is (afaik) just a bash with the shield - but I'm not really sure. I once tested it but my memory is fuzzy about this. Others will know better. The Long Pain will simply replace both weapon slots with the Long Pain fists - no matter what you were carrying. The shield will be gone until the Long Pain expires. Instruments of Pain will give the main melee weapon and the shield a range of +500% (or *6 in other words). Enfeebled + Plague: good question. Didn't test this, so no idea. I mean if the target is enfeebled and then gets hit by a DoT it will surely get the +50% duration. But the other way round I'm not so sure.
