  1. I spent a good while of the day reminiscing. Which is something that I do somewhat frequently but it seldomly affects my mood this negatively. Usually it's just a bit of nostalgia mixed in with an increasingly intense notion that maybe the old farts actually had it right and things really were better in the past. So I'm going to tell you guys a story. You can stop reading here if you don't like stories about, well, "the one that got away" but if you stick around you'll get to call me a stupid moron at the end. Well, possibly. And no, it's not going to be a friend zone story. At least... not a traditional one. I'm also not looking for any validation or a pat on the back or anything, I'm trying forum posting as a sort of coping mechanism (now that I type that out this sounds ridiculous). Since that got a lot longer in writing than I thought it would I'll just put it in spoiler tags.

  2. i was looking forward to this game and its practically unplayable for me. i dont want to look above everything i need to interact with, i dont want to be looking at the sky to land a headshot. i want to look at things the way i have been for the past 10 years. the fact you chose a lowered crosshair with no option to change is is beyond baffling to me.

  3. I want to be clear, I know plenty of topic stating the same suggestion already exists, I decided to create another one just to make sure one of these reaches the creators. The more there are the more it's easy to determine how much a feature is wanted by the users. Seeing the character you created wearing an armor you hard earned or found makes the game more immersive to me than watching it from the character's own eyes in 1st person. Even more, I really like to spend a lot of time in character creation menus, i can spend more than 30 minutes there until I am proud of what I've created, so why spend all that energy If I am going to see that face just in the inventory or if I stay idle for too long? Unluckily my PC right now is not good enough, i only managed to play a hour before the CPU bailed on me and bottlenecked my GPU to 50% usage, but this game represents everything i love: RPG, Space and Science Fiction, Obsidian Games' Role playing mechanics (New Vegas is my favourite Fallout by far, [I've played 3 and 4 as well] ). So I really hope that when I will be able to afford a worthy PC the 3rd person will be a feature, so to appreciate this game on 360 degrees. Have a magnificent day.

  4. bad history. when truman took control of steel mills during the korean war, the full house debated articles of impeachment for days, and he were hardly the first President to face serious impeachment moves. w/o any kinda research, am knowing polk, buchanan and tyler also faced serious impeachment. and gd conflates our cynicism comment with his recognition that push to impeach is not rare. suggest is pointless to choose 'tween candidates from either major party is indeed cynical and is no doubt the silliness putin were hoping to achieve with his election interference in the first place. render americans impotent with polarization and destroy faith in the value o' voting... or even caring. to recognize how since 1843, when the President and House are represented by different parties, impeachment debates become increasing likely is hardly the same conceit. gd needs take a step back from brink and maybe breath deep for a minute or two. 2019 is not same tired story. the trump situation wherein we got a President open attacking the press as a whole as enemies o' the state while simultaneous discrediting anybody who disagrees with him in government as being part o' ridiculous deep state conspiracy is not ordinary. not even lincoln during civil war went so far to attack Press, and no President has ever been so rabid in attacking our own government institutions w/o any facts to support. this President has purposeful undermined confidence in nonpolitical government bodies and functions to advance his own interests. not normal. to stand idle by and nod sadly at what you see as the everyday dumpster fire which is washington dc is not only cynical but dangerous. oh, and please note how while impeachment noise is not rare, current wh actions to obstruct Congress and any oversight or investigative effort is unprecedented. past Presidents has used executive privilege in specific and limited instances to bar testimony or release of documents to Congress and/or special counsels, but never has a President simple announced he would refuse to comply with any subpoena efforts. No President has ever made claim to be immune from criminal Investigation by both fed and state. yeah, impeach efforts is not rare and it goes back further than even truman, but to pretend like the current madness is all par for the course and use such as an excuse to ignore the serious problems staring you in the face is, to be generous, cynical. again, if trump gets away with this, future Presidents will know they can get away with leveraging their office to get foreign nations to investigate political rivals. such malfeasance woulda' been done secret save for whistleblower. you want that? you accept it? Americans already ignored mueller's dire warnings concerning the precedent set by allowing a Presidential candidate to solicit and accept dirt from a foreign power to affect an election. sadly, too many people were distracted by talk o' witch hunts and claims that trump were unfair targeted (and as it turns out, those claims were complete undermined by recent ig report) to distract from the serious threat staring you in the face. your cynicism has us turn a blind eye to reality that after trump, the only oversight o' an uncooperative President which will have any meaning is in fact impeachment. am being generous to dismiss self-destructive ambivalence as cynicism. HA! Good Fun!

  5. Patch uploaded: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/354?tab=files Covers forced rests in ten Ship scenarios and three Shrine scenarios, the vault in The Forgotten Sanctum, and the one in the Bent Bough Forest.

  7. I just checked out the ondra scenario conversation bundle and it turns out that altough I converted each AdvanceTimeToHour into 27 instances of AdvanceTimeByHoursNoRest with corresponding conditions, I actually forgot to convert all AdvanceTimeByHours triggers. In other words, I'm a ****ing idiot. Patch for the ondra scenario and 15 other forced rests incoming soon.

  8. I got a message (in fact, the first message) on the mod page earlier today about a forced rest that I didn't cover, and I had JUST uploaded a patch when I got a notification from this thread. Are you guys in on a conspiracy or what?

  12. Well, Phoenix Point is XCOM alright. Sniper has a "sure" shot. The whole enemy square within the reticule. Can't miss, what with this being true trajectory. As he fires, the idle animation of the target opens the tiniest gap between arm and torso. Obviously the bullet goes through that. Enemy breathes out, chest deflates and dodges the bullet.

  13. There is a key difference between actively making a game unmoddable and simply not having the time and resources to develop and release the modding tools. I believe with TOW, Obsidian is in the latter camp. They are in favour of modding, they just couldn't dedicate resources to making it possible.

  14. *sigh* Me: OMG how big and scary is my GOG library! I should play this, and that, and this too, and oh this one, I need 10 more lifetimes to play them all! Also me: seems like I haven't visited New Vegas lately, time for moar 100 hours! P.S.: finished that one Baldur's Gate 2 playthrough (ToB was waaaaaayy more boring than I remember, literally had to force myself through) and I'm confused -- Charname can become a god, alright, but...of what exactly? Murder's still in Cyric's portfolio, right, so what are we? Some sort of abstract divine material? Biff the Undergody?

  15. TOW is a slow burner given the starter location in Edgewater IMO. By the time you get to Sanjar/MSI and the Chairman's obsequious, Prima Donna exec at Byzantium (and especially the Adjutant), that's where Obsidian's dialogue and NPC character development really begins to shine. So TOW game play is mediocre? Well folks that claim this (ESPECIALLY if the words "Fallout game" follows TOW immediately afterwards) either never played an Obsidian game, or are too vested in mindless pew pew FPS style game play. Or are too brain washed and conditioned by a certain AAA dev who took the intellectual property of a franchise (which they lacked the innovative capital to conceive) and transformed it into a mindless, linear, and completely superficial FPS RPG. Same AAA dev who hides the lack of meaningful RP game play behind higher replay value open world sandbox mechanics. Same AAA dev who has historically depended on the goodwill of the PC modding community to constantly improve their games for FREE and extend the shelf life of their shallow RP games. To the point where said dev has finally found a way to exploit, monetize and monopolize the distribution of once FREE & professionally superior modded content provided by the PC community. Then make a profit by acting as middle man peddling fan base made content locked behind outrageously expensive paywalls. Profiting off the free/cheaply acquired PC community intellectual property to the vast mod deficient console player base. Same dev/publisher that was too lazy to come up with their own original way of crafting/building loop in FO4. Which btw, replaced the deep RP/choice game play that formerly existed in FO1, FO2 and New Vegas. Same dev which decided to permanently borrow the crafting/settlement build mechanic in a superior PC mod called Real Time Settler mod for New Vegas. Same dev/publisher that even resorted to STEALING proprietary intellectual capital. Like Autumn Leaves (a New Vegas mod) that somehow was magically teleported into FO4's Far Harbor DLC. Like an exact cut and paste copy of high popular Wizards of the Coast quest line. And then said dev blatantly trying to illegally profit off said theft. Shamelessly trying to pass said stolen content off as original DLC in one of their online game franchises.... So TOW is mediocre? Well perhaps the assessment of others is true. That the OP may be a bitter Bethesda shill? Who turned a blind eye to all of Bethesda's professional, ethical and morally grey faults as a AAA dev in the past. But can no longer ignore personal disillusionment with Bethesda's shenanigans with F76 to date. And so perhaps don't care to see Obsidian succeed where Bethesda has failed? Perhaps OP and others like them either extremely love/hate FO4 and/or that vile dumpster fire called F76? Are salty because they don't want TOW to be perceived as being a superior alternative to what the Fallout franchise has devolved to for both single player and online? BTW: notice the coincidental timing of Fallout 1st live service with TOW's release date? Now why do you suppose that was?

  21. Today's Hotfix: We have just deployed a hotfix patch for Phoenix Point taking it to version 1.0.54580 Patch Notes: Fixed a crash that occurs when launching the game with certain locales. Fixed an issue with invalid targeting when behind cover. Fixed various sound issues. The main purpose of this hotfix was to resolve the crash at launch issue. We have a larger patch on the way later this week to address some of the other issues. We will continue to identify and work through the reported issues and release patches as soon as they’ve been resolved. We ask if anyone encounters bugs in-game to please report them with the F12 tool - as this sends important game-state data directly to our QA team and allows us to more easily identify the issues. It was rolled back and then applied again with this note: The patch was temporarily rolled back and has now been reissued. This should have resolved the missing save game issue. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and minor heart-attacks all around.

  23. Fun fact: the Packers hold the tiebreakers over the Saints and the Seahawks. If the Packers and Seahawks both win out, regardless of anything else, the Packers would be the #1 seed. And they'd be probably the weakest, most fraudulent #1 seed I can remember in a long while, but hey, a #1 seed is a #1 seed, .

  25. Ep. 5 is outright embarrassing. Talk about tonal whiplash - the amount of cutesy **** added on top and between the grimmer imagery makes George Lucas' special editions measured in comparison. There's a sequence where we jump from broad comic relief in the shape of a spaceship mechanic and her droids, to an industrial variation of the main theme and Mando finding the heads of Startroopers stuck on pikes, then straight back to comic relief replete with cutesy bouncy music for good measure, all in the span of thirty seconds.

  26. I had send team 2 (in a damaged Manticore) to defend an Anu Haven in Scandinavia, while team 1 was wrapping up a mission in Northern America. Before team 2 even reached the Anu, and while team 1 was on the long way back to the main base in Northeast Asia, to recuperate, a Jericho Haven on the Iberian Peninsula got under attack. So after defending the Anu Haven, team 2, without rest rushed over there. They got there in the nick of the nick of time, just as the Haven was about to get overrun (defense had just ticked down to 0). Then the team figured out why the Jericho havens in this area have been going dark. They gathered the civilians and guided them away from the fighting (you get control of the civilians if you go near them). And the pandorans shelled the evac zone. But luckily it was the one time their artillery missed. Giving all civilians time to evacuate the area. (We won. Barely. Everyone is alive. And we won because the Chiron that had been bombarding us from afar retreated) And on a different note: a backer who may possibly have liked a certain TV series:

  27. "the fact you chose a lowered crosshair with no option to change is is beyond baffling to me" Your "fact" is incorrect. No offense. But before blaming the game for the issue you're having, you should take a moment to look into it and make sure the problem is not on your end. Because in this case, the problem is,indeed, on your end. The game does not use a "lowered" cross hair. The cross hair is centered, just like every other game of this type that I can think of. You need to go through your settings and figure out what is causing your issue. Because this game is awesome. You'd be really missing out if you didn't play it because you thought a major game feature was crap, when it's actually perfectly fine.

  30. Sorry it's clear trolling. Everyone is saying including the reviewers that the writing is fantastic. One of the best written games in years. There are going to be trolls from Bethesda around here. The pure fact he compares it to Fallout in the OP says that. Every point he is trying to make is why TOW is so much better than Fallout 3 and 4. Just let him be. This won't be the last thread someone tries to downplay the game in comparison to Fallout. Bethesda is on the way down. Consumed by Corporate greed. The irony? That's what Fallout was actually about. Bethesda have become the very thing they wrote a story against.

  31. This isn't a mediocre fallout because it's not made to be a fallout clone( bethseda fallout that is). In playing I've noted several instances where they could have used some of the same systems as fallout but instead blatantly dodged designs and mechanics that could be construed as copying them. Sure it causes us to come on here and say "You need to this this way and change this and that" . But that just goes to show that they tried to make something different. I always find it funny how we throw off on a game by saying its a clone and then complain about others because they don't have the mechanics and setup as another. Also where do you get this from: There's several times when you can respond in a flirty way and friendship .... you run all round the place to help them with their personal matters aka companion quests. You can put them down and tell them they are great people. But you mentioned that . Never mind when they chime in on choice your going to make and you either say I appreciate your opinion or dismiss their opinion. I know , I know you want your character to have a sex scene with some other character you've chatted it up with ala Mass Effect, Witcher, Dragon Age....etc. But Outer Worlds is trying to give us something else in a time of used up ideas.

  32. I have no issues playing with beta starbound characters, graywarden, inquisitor or shephard... But with fallout 4, in some point i feel that i could not play as Nora Hawke (there is no way to know what her maiden's name was) making even the gender decision completely useless too ala Dragon Age 2 (Eventhough, in that game was more the mage/non-mage Hawke). I understand why Nate would kill Kellogg all the times, go hunt a Courser and accept the rank of general or being a member of the Brotherhood of steel. But Nora, being a lawyer with absolutely no knowledge in combat except from whatever Nate could had teach her between his reinsertion in the civil life working at wilson atomatoys as ammo expertise and any time he was not being a husband and dad of a baby... You can't expect i believe that she would not try to outwit and soft talk Kellogg into helping her after hearing his testimony or she not being able to excuse herself on why she can't be the general, the overboss or the silver shroud and tell those two lazybums and that con artist to MAN UP and stop being useless sissies. And while I understand why Nora would had mixed feeling when arriving the institute, I can't imagine Nate not commiting genocide or shooting his own soon without giving him a chance to explain himself unless he is working for the railroad

  33. If you don't like EGS you can do what many of us have done is pay $1 for Xbox Game Pass. Personally I prefer an emotionless husk as it makes it much easier to role-play. I'm not sure how good the game is relative to Fallout 3 or New Vegas yet, but it is definitely better than Fallout 4 since I actually feel like I can role-play.

  34. I do disagree: I think Bethesda's Fallout is the "cheap knockoff". Simply because Bethesda isn't smart. They do not do smart design, they do not write smart things. They themselves stated "You can either fill a large world with cheap content or make a small game with handcrafted stuff". This was true until CD Project Red showed them a pretty large middle finger. Bethesda-games do one thing right: Large, cheap worlds. It's McDonalds, sometimes I like it, but it's just "cheap, low-quality stuff, lots of it". Nothing the Bethesda-makers so far have said or done over the years made me think "Yeah, cool! That is smart!" If you want a piece of their actual abilities to plan, design and execute a game you need only to look at Fallout 76, the writing that lead to that fiasko has on the wall for all their previous titles, just they worked as moddable (!) single player titles, so we did not mind and got our fun out of them (I played Oblivion, Skyrm, Fallout 3 and 4 and enjoyed them for what they were - but always wished they were done smarter in basically all regards). Here's the actual issue: Even though they seem to look similar and are basically the same genre, Fallout 3/4 and The Outer Worlds are *very* different game with very different goals and basic ideas. Both studios want different things and do these "fairly well" when measured against their own goals (note that neither is actually perfect; Bethesda lacks in being smart, Obsidian often has lacked in funding to actually finish a large project and make it as good as it could be (Kotor2, anyone?)). So to be honest: I take "Obsidian-Fallout" over "Bethesda-Fallout" anytime. Simply because I like "smart" better than " incredibly lots". Do you know what I hope for? An Obsidian-Game made with the development effort and money that Bethesda could afford!

  35. You're entitled to your opinion, but I *strongly* disagree. 1) Obsidian isn't known for mediocre games. They are a very successful RPG studio that has made some of the best games out there, and are widely acknowledged as such. 2) There's a *LOT* of companion interaction. No, there's no "romance", but so what? There's a cubic ****ton of interaction and comradeship. 3) You cannot do all the same stuff between those two games. You can't throw grenades in TOW, but you can't shrink people in Fallout 4. You can't enslave people in TOW, but you don't have any "dig through rat ****" quests in Fallout 4, either. Etc. etc.
    1 point
  36. Your entitled to your opinion. But it's definately a minority viewpoint. Obsidian are not known for mediocre ganes. Obsidian are known as one of the best RPG devs in the west. Something tells me more than likely your a very sad Bethesda fan. Who is so upset that Bethesda have gone so downhill that many don't want to support them anymore. TOW is so much better than Fallout 4. The RPG mechanics are better. And the slow Mo is far superior to Vats. But the biggest problem with Fallout is the writing. Obsidian writing is superb. Please Obsidian don't be like Fallout. TOW is far superior as an RPG. IMO the OP is either a PS fanboy or Bethesda Fanboy. What gives it away is the line that Obsidian are known for mediocrity. When that statement is totally false. Obsidian is synonymous with top drawer quality RPGs. Either he's Annoyed that from here on all Obsidian RPGs will be Xbox exclusive or he's annoyed that so much hate is being piped on Bethesda lately. And people are much happier with The Outer Worlds. 90% of reviews say it's better than Fallout.

  37. That's just like ... your opinion man. But I'm sure everyone here is greatful for your critique. However, my opinion is that it's the best Fallout like game since Fallout New Vegas. My opinion is that the writing is brillant. My opinion is that Obsidian is not known for mediocrity but for some of my favourite games ever.

  38. I'm not sure if anyone already brought this up but I know there are at least two fan versions of the map of Eora on the internet, and it looks like nothing official has been released yet. Whenever someone asks for a map of the world, they get directed to one of the fan made pictures. But. I've been running around Brass Citadel today, and I saw this in the Officer's Lounge on the hazatoha table: It's in the game so I'd say it's as official as it can get. As for the lands themselves, my guess goes as this (sorry for the sloppy paint edition): What do you think?

  39. Just a guess on my part, but I think Minoletta is probably the closest to that kind of archetype in the setting, but that’s only based on her limited characterization during the scripted interaction in Arkemyr’s basement and the role that Josh is using her in for his tabletop campaign. Equal odds though that she is a missile obsessed psychopath that prolongs her life by devouring the souls of cosmic piglets.

  41. Honestly, I found that as you got the SH's security and prestige ratings really high, over 40 and then over 50, you started making more than enough money to pay for your retainers. Anyways, there are some items like the Main Keep and the Bailey that are pre-req's for building other items. So build those first. I would suggest not putting off building the barracks, because my experience has been that the security personnel are worth the cost. They may not be able to reliably repel attacks on their own, but as you get your security rating high, they're more than able to keep the raiding on your taxes rather low. IMO, they pay for themselves after not all that long. Personally, I've never really had all that much trouble keeping enough gold in my PC's balance and have always been able to keep a SH build project always running (until I ran out of things to build). Early on, I might have to choose to do the cheaper projects over the more costly ones. But in the long run, they all got built regardless. The Warden's house is very good for the bounties, though I wouldn't be in a huge rush to get it built because those bounty fights are often fairly tough and if you build it too early, your party may not be up to the challenge of those fights quite yet. Other things can bring you more value than the Warden's house if your party isn't ready for the challenge of those bounties. ALSO, one of the first 4 bounties occurs in an area that is only accessible after Stormwall Gorge has opened up (at the end of chapter 2, IIRC), so that's another reason to not rush to build the warden's house until you're near the end of chapter 2. (And until you've finished the first 4 bounties, you can't get the next set of 4 bounties.)
