  3. I really don't know =( I played as Woedica/Streetfighter. Primarily because of the streetfighter bonus you get while being on 1 health all the time. For some encounters I used Belt of Magrans Chosen to flank myself in order to deal more damage against a single target enemy for example Dorudugan. I picked up Woedica because as a rogue we got access to invis anyways AND the Spritual Weapon from Woedica is insane. The Hands dealing additional raw damage. Smoke Veil is totally fine. I never upgraded it. With a a couple of points in INT it lasts for 10 seconds which is enough for my playstyle, you can however reroll if you are higer lvl and pick up Shadowing Beyond, which I would recommend if you feel safer with it because it's duration is alot higher. But it's really not that needed. And yes you are right about Scordeo's. If you get double streetfighter buff you really do not need Scordeos. However I went for the saferoute and picked it up for the mega bosses. I did some testing however and you can beat all megabosses without scordoes except Hauani O Whe (ooze). Since we do not have any access to CC we just have to burst as much as we can, which streetfighter is really good at. You can go for Priest of Wael and get Gaze of the Adragan, but the Spiritual Weapon is so bad. Shroud of the Phantasm was actually only used ONCE in this run at Jadaferlas. After Jadaferlas you can get the upgraded version of your watcher ability and trigger Brilliant. From this point I decided to make a rest-run. My first Ultimate Run ended with an ingame time of 71 days, so I got alot of time left. I did plan to rest 15 times for my new run in order to kill everything which is in total 5 days and 8 hours that you need to invest for resting. At this point you will notice that I still have time left and it should be manageable. You might ask yourself but how about protecting your Brilliant buff from being dispelled. That is also the reason I picked up Rogue. I skilled Slippery Mind which gives you immunity to mind afflictions while you are near death, which we are permamently. So there is no need for Captains Banquet or Waels Wind. In fact I picked up Shark Soup a couple of times which makes you immune to EVERYTHING combined with Slippery Mind. Quite funny. Enjoy. Tenray

  4. Tuoutilo's Palm is the best bashing shield because it uses Transcendent Suffering/Monastic Unarmed Training penetration and accuracy, but don't expect a dps increase from it if you just auto attack (even with full attacks the dps increase is probably minor). Bashing shields are interesting for characters able to spam main hand abilities - it this case you attack with the speed of a dual wielder, with no damage penalty, while benefiting from the shield's bonuses at the same time. The potential candidates are monk: (Efficient Anguish is easily sustainable with the damage taken), soul blade (Soul Annihilation with Sun and Moon refuels focus with the second hit) and tactician (Knock Down generates discipline on interrupts).

  5. gifted asked same not long ago, and gd smacked him with the rolled newspaper. thought the lesson were driven home. silly o' us. regardless, you are gonna need be specific. who is "everyone" and what specific issue are you speaking 'bout? regardless o' legality o' presence in the USA, all human beings is afforded a few basic rights by the US Constitution. one reason why a number o' administrations, democrat and republican, kept guantanamo viable as a detention facility is 'cause it were arguable not in the US. non-citizens who were held outside o' the US were having less/no rights, or so the argument were presented. but step foot in US and those Constitutional protections would immediate kick in and take effect, protecting due process rights and other such defenses. so an immigrant who manages to make it to the US, legal or otherwise, gots basic rights. am not certain why folks convenient forget that fact. also, as hurl points out, the immigrants is being held for civil offenses. is on par with minor traffic violations. hit and run and reckless driving is criminal, but minor traffic infractions is civil... and so too is illegal border crossing. so akin to parking or speeding ticket... but no more than 10 mph over the speed limit as that often is the point when excess o' speed triggers reckless. 'course even the most hardcore natavits who has at least a couple firing neurons would balk at making border violations criminal. why? 'cause then you gotta give accused illegal immigrants criminal trial protection such a speedy trial and lawyer and jury. at the moment, you got thousand and thousands o' backlogged cases-- years o' backlog. toddlers is being ushered into immigration courts where judges s'posed explain to the child their rights and responsibilities. this ain't a joke, and it happens daily... many times a day. am thinking far too many people have no idea what "illegal immigrant" means insofar as legal rights is concerned, or they is convenient forgetting. maybe you don't like the Constitution? you are welcome to try and change it. HA! Good Fun!

  6. One of those times where the flowers end up making a double-fruit. The tomatoes themselves are maybe 1.5 to 2 inches wide. Larger than cherry in stores, but still pretty small. They grow this way. Apparently a lot of peppers do, but it's the first time I've seen one. I laughed pretty hard when I first saw it. Not sure of the variety name. I kept asking hubby but then I forget so I stopped asking. There are three hot pepper plants. The oldest one survived a winter and has barely any leaves ( a few on top) but determinedly keeps producing tons of large peppers anyway. Hubby tried pickling some in mostly a salt brine or something. They stunk and I didn't touch them. I'll stick to the store bought pickled jalapenos until/unless he does something similar. He grew up with relatives who did lots of canning/jarring so he wants to try it I guess. There's baby cucumbers growing too. He's just experimenting at this point, mostly. But a year or two from now I expect him to till up and take over half the lawn space or something. Hah.

  7. Just checked: Best Defense comes legendary and its bashing stats (dmg, PEN, ACC) don't scale with legendary. They stay basic (0% dmg bonus, +0 PEN, +0 ACC ). Like all other bashing shields it only scales its shield deflection from +4 to +8 with the ledendary enchantment. It does not profit from Transcendent Sufferung or Monastic UT. you can enchant the bash seperately with +2 PEN OR +25% dmg. Which is laughable. I guess this mechanic of bashing is an oversight. It seems Obsidian can't get bashing right (exept Tuotilo's Palm which is an edge case).

  11. Music support - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmJzLipDbIA Sword'n'Bear Difficulty: PotD v. 5.0 Solo: i don't think so, but you may try to abuse Dire Talon Class: Nalpazca/Stalker Race: any is good. I choose wood elf for +1 per/dex and affliction resistance Background: Deadfire Archipelago/The White that Wends - Laborer (if going to use Contender's Armor) Stats: dumped con and res, maxed mig/dex/per, rest int Equipment: Head: Fair Favour Back: The Giftbearer's Cloth Neck: Claim and Refusal/Cog of Cohh Armor: Devil of Caroc Breastplate/Miscerant's Leather/Contender's Armor Waist: The Undying Burden (when using Contender's Armor)/Sash of Judgement Hands: Gatecrushers/Boltcatchers/Corroded Vambracers/Burglar's Gloves Rings: Chameleon's Touch and Ring of Prosperity's Fortune Boots: Pathfinder's Boots Pet: Abraham (and nalvi on eder if possible) Weapon set 1: Scordeo's Edge (for Adaptive upgrade) and Griffin's Blade (very important because of Howling Blade effect - it helpes to keep enemies dazed in AoE all the time and underpen the bear) Weapon set 2: WotEP (helpes a lot to stack Hunters Fang - when hit multiple enemies, gives several charges) Weapon set 3: can be selected when Adaptive stack is full, but Griffin's Blade is a must. Interesting weapons: Rust's Poignard, Modwyr, Aldris Blade of Captain Crow, Dire Talon (my favourite - huge acc of this build and constant crits chained with SF/HBD can spawn a lot of wurms. There is no limit in quantity. Food: Mohora Wraps Drug: Mouth Char Abilities: Efficent Anguish - pushing back enemies that get to close and interrupting casters (on graze) Swift Flurry, Heartbeat Drumming - obvious Enduring Dance - keep on all the time, push enemies that draw near Turning Wheel - fire lash and increased effect duration (dazed from griffin's blade, adaptive, swift flurry) Instruments of Pain - must have, lets you chop chop from safe place behind your bears back Clarity of Agony - not necessary, but sometimes useful Two Weapon Style - obvious Enervating Blows - weaken enemies constantly Improved Critical - you can skip this if you prefer Concussive Tranquiliser Marked for the Hunt - more acc Hunter's Fang - More Acc! Stalkers Link - MORE ACC ! ! ! Survival of the Fittest - guess what Resilent Companion and Hardy Companion - with Stalker subclass and bear bonus it gives total 16 ar (remember that enemies are dazed constantly) One ability point left on PL 7. You can change improved critical for concussive tranquiliser or takedown combo In quick summary, you get very quick striker with more than 180 acc (hunters fang, marked for the hunt, stalkers link, survival of the fittest, adaptive, enduring dance, legendary weapon, high per). That gives very high chance to crit, and spam SF/HBD triggering on crit effects. Fragility of this build get supressed by a decent tank included (mostly because all enemies in aoe are dazed constantly).

  15. As Wotcha said, doing right choices for all god conversations. As for combat: - start fight safe if you want with traps OR immobilize + withdraw and invis - cast Wit of Deaths Herald on Vela => you get Brilliant - start buffing as usual Needs however resting because all Watcher abilities are per rest only.

  16. If you make the right choices in the first god convo, your 1/rest watcher ability gives you a level 1 INT inspiration. If you make the right choices in the second convo, it upgrades to a level 2 inspiration. And then again in the third convo to get to level 3. It requires some mix of Clever/Passionate/general-smartass responses to do this, I’ve never written down the exact choices. It’s still only 1/rest but anybody can get it, and it has a huge duration. You need to trigger it by casting it on somebody, but hey, Vela’s standing right there.

  20. Read a book called Scott and Amundsen: The Last Place on Earth by Roland Huntford. Very interesting read on the lifes of Roald Amundsen and Robert Scott, culiminating in their race to the south pole. Huntford attempts to deconstruct the Scott hero myth that started after his death. The book shows how unfair history has been to Amundsen, who while being flawed, in truth should be remembered as one the greatest polar explorer of all time. He was the first to reach the south pole, first to pass through the North-west passage, and later the first to reach the North pole by plane. The amount of preperation and training he did for all of this is pretty damn impressing, including living with and learning from the Netsilik inuit people. Scott on the other hand, was remembered as a great British hero - but is in the book presented as largely incompetent. Huntford uses Scott's diaries, and the diaries of his men, to present a terrible leader who saw enemies in everyone (he detested Shackleton), always made up excuses, and complained about bad luck (which Amundsen would call bad planning).

  21. Bu when you get some some sort of lock and can't proceed (and it's the game's fault not yours) I guess it's fair game to just explain what is/was happening, kill the game process and reload. I'm pretty sure that's ok. I mean better to try it and take that chance than scrapping the run altogether.

  22. Interrupts in general are more easy to utilize (to full effect) if you use them on enemies who are using abilities with long(ish) execution times (mostly spells). Those usually have a big impact on the encounter (think of Arcane Dampener). It's better to spare some interrupt capability for such situations when you see that an enemy starts casting stuff. Good examples: Neriscyrlas casts Llengrath's Safeguard, Concelhaut casts Arcane Cleanse and so on. Interrupting a quickly executed attack ability is usually very difficult to time and not worth the effort. If you want to prevent enemies from using their offensive abilities a frightening or terrifying effect is great. Those are pretty easy to come by (see Wizard) and they often work really well with AoE Will debuffs (Miasma of Dull-Mindedness and/or an AoE strike with clubs + modal). The enemy won't lose the ability costs though like they do with an interrupt. The good thing about Full Attack with Tuotilo's Palm is just that you have two chances to apply any effect (like afflictions). Due to the -35% dmg loss of Full Attacks and the low dmg of the bash I also guess you won't see a substantial damage increase. But stuff like Stunning Surge is better if you have two chances to apply stun or even crit with it (regaining resources). I mean better than with a normal shield. For me the best part of Tuotilo's Palm is the enhancements that boosts unarmed attacks, mostly the accuracy enhancement. It also applies to the shield itself by the way. But or course that's only a viable option if you really use your fists (primarily) and not another weapon. Great point about Primary Attacks (like Force of Anguish) + bashing shields. Often overlooked I guess.

  24. I have a strange issue where if the game is open in the background on my machine it appears normal. However, when I switch the game to the foreground the screen goes extremely dark (this happens on the menu and in game as well). If I then switch the game to the background it returns to the correct brightness Do you have any suggestions on setting to make that could fix this issue please? I am using the GoG version of the game

  27. lol, yeah i had a bit of tunnel vision. literally like 30 minutes ago, I was like "wait I got several scrolls of maelstrom from FS". a few high level scrolls + holy fire wiped most everything out and then i could just keep concelhaut mule kicked until they died. i forgot that most of bekarna's observatory targets a much lower level and everyone has pretty low defenses and health compared to some other areas even with upscaling.

  32. I think you mean satire. I mean, you are correct that it is basically trolling the original content, but I disagree that it makes our world crappy. I think it is great that we can satirize basically everything, and a gung-ho propaganda book pushed out during the Cold War seems to be a perfect subject. If they didn't use the same name, it is arguable that people would really make the satirical connection. Heck, enough people struggle to recognize it for more than a standard action flick.

  33. *shrug* it's possible to call anything apophenia. I could just sit here and say, "hey you people are not seeing the patterns that are there". It's an utterly meaningless statement. If I pick one specific point to answer: You're basically flattening all of the nuance in the delivery and the situation. If you asked Eder whether his problem was 'answered' or whether he was given a full 'closure', his lines throughout his entire quest say the opposite. Eder didn't set out to say, "did my brother fight for X or did he fight for Y?" He wanted to know why, he wanted to know what drove his brother, and so on. Your interpretation is basically like saying "you cheated on me, now I want to know whether you kissed him 3 times or 4 times." Similarly, you find with Sagani that Persoq was the white deer and so on. But again, focusing on that is completely missing the point. Everything Sagani says from the start shows quite clearly that she begins with unquestioned certainty about this ritual practice / journey and she is looking forward to just finding the guy and getting it done, but as time goes by, she begins to wonder what this journey means at all, what it means to Persoq, what it means to her, what it means to her tribe, and whether finding Persoq will really solve anything or answer anything, and what finding Persoq would be able to give to her at all. We find, from all of her lines at that last encounter, that indeed, finding Persoq could give her no answers on what mattered most. The only answer she did get is the answer that matters the least - that Persoq was a white deer. Of course, if a reader hypothetically went through those quests and thought, "OK we were trying to find out who Eder's bro fought for and who the hell Persoq was, done and done, their stupid problems are solved", then I'm sure the whole thing will feel rather pointless. I would say that's an extremely impoverished reading that ignores most of the nuance in the writing - and under such an impoverished reading, the only type of plot that would feel satisfactory is a highly melodramatic and explicit "here we are saving the world, here look you see this person die right now, can you save her?" and so on. Sure, everything I said here is my interpretation, but I found that the themes were weaved quite indirectly and I enjoyed that 'non-epic' approach.

  34. Hello guys, I just finished Ultimate Run No.2. My personal goal was sub 10 hours and I managed to do it in 9:45 and I think it can be done even faster. This time I played as Priest/Rogue, was alot of fun. However I am thinking about uploading or not because as I already told you my internet connection is really bad and I actually have not any motivation to do so. The reason for this is my first Ultimate run. Some people were pm-ing me about my first run and were asking when I am getting the approval and all I can say is: I don't know. I haven't got any kind of answer/response from Obsidian so far. I did send a reminder and got no reponse and I even send a mail from a different domain, because I thought there might be something wrong with my email account. I have no clue if I got even disqualified or if they are still watching my videos. I cannot answer you these questions, I am sorry. Nevertheless I have nothing to hide and like to share ideas and strategies and you can ask me whatever you want about running it as Priest/Rogue. I try to commnicate as well as I can and would happy to help you out if you try to beat the Ultimate as priest/rogue aswell. For now I am really exhausted and I am not quite sure if I keep working on SC monk because some fights are really luck dependant, especially the arena fights. Probably I need a break from PoE2.
