Age of consent is 15 in France, so in eyes of French people there was nothing criminal in their relationship. Although that is logic that we also use to accept child marriages in Saudi Arabia and some other countries which we see as friendly nations.

"How exactly do you blame Trump/Obama (whichever side you're on...) on Europe? "

Well.. for starters, it is not about Trump/Obama. It is about how Amerika is/acts.

Let's take guns. People whine about how Amerika is all about the guns and 2nd amendent. And, violence. Well, that is ebcause they had to FIGHT for their freedom and needed those guns to do so so why would they give them up?

Comapre that to my country Kanada? We got our 'independence' from a piece of paper because Europe feared another US.,.. and, wea ren't even relaly free since we still bow to that piece of crap nazi Queen in Britain. DISGUSTING.

Again, everything bad about the US/Kanada is ebcause of Europe. everything good is because of us sperating ourselves from them. PERIOD.

Good stuff from Europe:

-democracy

-humanistic values

-Christian values

-modern philosophical values

-socialism/capitalism (whichever you fancy)

-dozens over dozens of important scientists

Does it? Last i checked this was a French  election not a Europe one so only France voted. And, 35% voted against the UE. That's a huge chunk. Doesn't sound like the EU is as 'united'. Oh yeah, i forgot, EU doesn't care about those who oppose them. they will murder, rape,a nd destroy any who stand against them as they have thretaned Britain, Turkey, Russia, the US, Kanada, and others.

"2. The EU is an undemocratic institution that has to be severely reformed. Important steps would also be to create a unified financial policy, which Macron supports."

The EU will never be democratic. The people in power hate most Europeans. they see them as uncessary baggage.

The European ideal is slavery, rape, murde,r conquest, and genocide.

French presidential hopeful Marine Le Pen said that she would bar dual citizenship with non-European Union countries if elected.

Earlier this week, the far-right leader reiterated her longstanding support for banning the wearing of yarmulkes in public spaces, as part of an overall ban on religious (mostly Muslim) attire. “The struggle against radical Islam should be a joint struggle and everyone should say, ‘there, we are sacrificing something,’” she told Israel’s Channel 2. “Maybe they [Jews] will do with just wearing a hat [instead of a yarmulke], but it would be a step in the effort to stamp out radical Islam in France.” Conveniently, Le Pen has never called to ban wearing crosses in public, having previously claimed that “the Catholic religion doesn’t have conspicuous symbols.”

While campaigning at a meat market near Paris, Marine Le Pen, the right-wing candidate in the ongoing French presidential elections, announced that, if elected, she would ban ritual slaughtering of animals. This announcement caused even more concern about the presidential candidate, whose anti-Muslim platform will also harm Jews.

"Buried midway through the lengthy document at number 87, Le Pen promises to create an “improved” form of civil unions in the country to “replace” the equal marriage law passed under the current Socialist government in 2013.

It would be a return to the former status quo for France, which only permitted same-sex couples to enter a contractual form of civil union (PACS) from 1999 until 2013.

As well as plans to tamper with equality laws, Le Pen also outlines plans to restrict fertility services, ending assistance for gay couples wanting to have children."

While I have my problems with the MSM in this case Le Pen did concede. With that in mind awarding Macron the victory before votes were counted was fair enough.

I have a lot more problem with how Macron's victory has been framed as some sort of landslide and a glorious victory for the forces of progress. If you've got a historically low voter turnout and 1/8 of the people who did turn up spoiling their ballots instead of voting for you and you're up against a (near) fascist then a 66-34 margin is not anywhere near as commanding as has been made out. And there's the ultimate problem that Macron is the candidate of the globalist status quo establishment, as if following the same blueprint that generated the problems will suddenly start solving them. The Euro won't suddenly be run for anyone other than Germany's benefit, the poor in the banlieus or the rust belts won't suddenly get prospects, the polarised immigrants won't suddenly integrate and in 5 years it will be the same thing all over again, likely with Hollande 2.0. Which, I believe, was also Hollande's final approval rating.

Gee anti-EU sentiment from Zoro...thats unusual

Sorry Zoro the EU will continue and be a bastion and paradigm of a successful economic model for all to emulate .....yes I understand the frustration but the world is simply a better place with the EU

But I have to be honest this was the closest to a real disintegration of the EU I have ever seen, after all these decades and attempts by foreign powers to undermine the EU it would have been both ironic and exasperating if the change that ended the EU came from within

Maybe instead of praising the EU all the damn time and letting problems go on because they are a necessary evil, maybe people should start asking for better nominees that will push to change and fix problems. So far it looks like the only candidates the EU countries have been pushing is between someone who wants things to continue as they are with no real goal to reform and someone who just wants to "cast off the shackles" completely with no real plan on how to do so or what they are going to do afterwards.

In a few years if no changes are done and if continuing to favor new immigrants who DON'T integrate instead of favoring citizens who have integrated, say good bye to the EU because going by these elections, next time around, your gonna have more proEU switch ships.

Just my guess

Funny thing was 3/4 of the top candidates in the 1st round were broadly speaking anti EU. Le Pen and Melenchon pretty overtly so and Fillon a little more restrainedly so but certainly the least pro EU of the UMP candidates. Only Macron was unabashedly pro Europe- and even then, the magical 'reformed' Europe of the imagination. It certainly wasn't Macron's stance on Europe that got him elected, it was far more due to negative voting against Le Pen. Won't stop it being spun that way though, same as Wilders not 'winning' was spun as a victory despite his significant increase in votes over the previous time.

It's certainly true that if there are many more 'glorious victories' for the EU where the anti EU bloc increases vote share as much as in France or the Netherlands then the EU will be deader than a flightless Mauritian bird in a few years. Or to put it in perspective, the next election would be Le Pen/ Melenchon (and by a fair bit too) if their vote share increased as much as from 2012.

My friend trust me there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the EU, it is exactly as it always has been. Its an economic union and offers any country that is prepared to integrate into the single market real economic growth and sustainability

You can ask our friends on this forum who claim not to like the EU but live in it what is wrong with the EU, the responses dont really make sense. People claim to " want their sovereignty " back......sovereignty ? Thats just a word that populists echo thinking it has meaning yet any country that really does leave the EU will find sovereignty doesnt mean much with a failed economy. The UK is an exception to this but they will also have to accept some tough economic times ahead until they have stabilized there new economy and trade deals

But of course things sometimes go wrong and lessons need to be learnt, the initial well meaning offer around Germany and all the refugees was a mistake. You cannot force every country to welcome Muslims who come from Sharia countries and in some cases dont understand Western values so there have been issues around integration

So I can understand real concerns around immigration.....

Im not disputing that but is this really a failure of the EU?

It seems more systemic and not a punishment, so for example you could align your Czech banks with other east European banks? But yes the banking sector in some countries in the EU will naturally be more dominant

I do not pretend to be an expert on French politics but from my reading a lot of French voters felt they had to choose between two terrible candidates. That was a big reason why turnout was low. Well, I can certainly sympathize with them there. There is a lot of that going around.

I didn't say there was anything fundamentally wrong with the EU but that it is far from perfect just like u stated. The issue Ive been seeing that the EU needs to really work on is two things.

First, is it an union specifically for economics or is economics is the underlying "reason" to enforce and change laws and social ideals?

If is just economics, then the EU wouldn't have it's fingers and power to do what it does now.

Right now, your okay with the more power it has than it should bc it's pushing Western values for competitive lower wage slaves, but what if instead it decides that to increase the "economy" it decides to not look west, but east and takes plays and influence from Putin? (Example of course), now because your okay with it having more power and influence than it should bc it's pushing what your okay with, when it decides to start pushing another direction you do not like, you have now made it harder to fix the problem.

Second is so far the way it enforces policies that tbh it shouldn't be. Take the refugees, every member of the EU HAS to take in weither they like it or not and instead of looking at WHY and IF it's a problem (people not forced to integrate, different values not compatible, etc), instead of researching and putting a stiplilation on both the refugees AND the countries who take them in, instead "sob stories" were crammed down throats and if u had any objections or problems, your labeled a racist.

I don't have a good view of the EU because as we in USA demostrated when Obama tried to force states in accepting and providing for refugees, we can turn it down (of course same EU tactics of being labeled racists didn't have the effect here since we use that term way more often then we even should) but the members of the EU didn't even have that option.

The EU is in place and imho opinion has more power than it should, how bout trimming back some of that power.

Another grip is with Brexit. They leave the union and instead of giving same deals that non members have, they want to make an example and make them worse off than non members, **** that if is just "economics".

So France and Germany is now lead by people with no stake in the future of their respective countries as they have no children of their own. Interesting.
