Pink texture glitch in White March II - 3.02.1008

Randy

Question

I've progressed a little bit into the White March 2 expansion. I've just gone up the lift in the tower during the quest where you repair the cannons and this is what I see: http://i.imgur.com/gceXrwt.png. The game is literally unplayable like this. The purple/pink squares fly across the screen so I'm assuming it's some type of snowy storm texture.

I've completely reinstalled the game four different times using different versions or changing up the install order of patches. I installed it once automatically with Galaxy and manually every other time. I've installed it to multiple different folders - C:\GOG Games, C:\Games, C:\POE and wherever it was placed by Galaxy.

I removed all the overclocks from both my CPU and GPU and tried again. Nothing changed.

I downgraded to the last nvidia driver I was using, as it was recently updated by GeForce experience. Nothing changed.

I ran the game as an administrator. Nothing changed.

I even tried installing the game on an older PC and experienced the exact same issue.

I'm at my wits end here. Are there any real fixes? Everyone says verify your files on Steam but I'm not using the steam version.

I'm considering just getting a refund from GOG and giving up on ever playing through the expansion. I already beat the original game twice. I only wanted to play through the expansion for the story, which I can just look up online.

I'm about to try a pirated Steam version and if it works I'm just going to avoid GOG in the future.

Hey Randy,

Can you link me your savefile? I'll give it a try on our end and we can go from there.

I got your back

[EDIT] " Everyone says verify your files on Steam but I'm not using the steam version."

The same process cam be performed if you are using GOG Galaxy.

1. Click on Pillars of Eternity in your library

2. Click on More

3. Go to Manage

4. Select Verify/Repair

I found a fully patched torrent and the game works flawlessly with the exact same save file, so we can safely presume the save file was not the issue. The version I downloaded is a Steam copy so something must be wrong with the GOG files. I tried auto-installing with GOG Galaxy and manually installing(multiple times), and both methods produced the same glitch. I've since removed all the GOG files and don't plan on reinstalling them so I can't test whether or not the issue is resolved after verifying in Galaxy.

I'm not going to refund the expansion pass on GOG. I wanted to but that wouldn't be fair to you guys. However it might be worth your time to verify that everything on GOG is as it should be.

It's a patching issue with gog, again... I've had this issue every time there has been a major update. It's related to the load order of the patches and expansions. Easiest way around it is to use gog galaxy, though unfortunately the game seems to redownload every time there is an update. Sadly gog is a mess with pillars all around.

"Those who look upon gods then say, without even knowing their names, 'He is Fire. She is Dance. He is Destruction. She is Love.' So, to reply to your statement, they do not call themselves gods. Everyone else does, though, everyone who beholds them."
"So they play that on their fascist banjos, eh?"
"You choose the wrong adjective."
"You've already used up all the others.”
