I initially played my first few games while being logged in with Facebook (iOS 9, iPad 4th gen). I started with no gold and earned no gold. The "Store" option from the Welcome Page was not enabled.
Known issues post referred to earning gold for completing the tutorial, I was a little puzzled by this.
I decided to actually create an account through the UI and log in. Once I did, the Store menu option was available. I restarted the tutorial and finished it and started earning gold.
I know that there's a 'known issue' regarding no reference to not earning/spending gold unless logged in, but I had understood that I was logged in when connecting with Facebook and that this wouldn't apply.
