Fighting games!

I'm a big fan of the fighting game genre. I was wondering if there are few fighting game fans here at the Obsidian forums.

I would enjoy discussion on the genre.

To get things going, here are a few statements people can respond to:

1: I wasn't pleased with Street Fighter 4. I prefer the alpha series.

2: I love Super Smash Brothers Melee, and the Brawl mod, "Project M". I hated Brawl itself though.

3: I like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but I wish the damage was a bit lower.

4: Mortal Kombat 9 was pretty neat.

Any thoughts on any fighting game is great; I just wanted to give some people statements to agree/disagree with.

"Good thing I don't heal my characters or they'd be really hurt." Is not something I should ever be thinking.

I used to be a big fan. Killer Instinct, Soul Calibur 2, Mace: The Dark Age, and Bushido Blade 1 and 2 were my favorites. Haven't played a lot since the fun part was playing with friends and passing the controller around whenever you lost, and I don't hang with friends so much since the kids were born. Hence all my favorites being 10 years old. I snagged Soul Calibur 4 when I first got my PS3, but it wasn't nearly as good as 2.

I like Bushido 1, but never really played Bushido 2. Soul Caliber 4 was a joke compared to 2.

Bushido 2 had an improved story mode, but otherwise was pretty much the same as 1 if I remember right. I wish Square/Enix would bring the series back, but I don't know how well it sold.

One Must Fall is my all time favourite.

That the robot one that was a PC exclusive? I remember it being pretty sweet.

I uhh... Never heard of it. That's pretty rare. Must be a real obscure title. Maybe it wasn't for consoles?

It was PC only and it is pretty old, came out around '94 or '95 if I recall correctly. Still is really good and is also my favorite fighter even though I haven't played that many of them. Also has AWESOME soundtrack, especially the theme!

Also loved Streets of Rage 2 on megadrive and Double Dragon 2 on NES.

That is a rockin' soundtrack. I'm impressed.

While I don't really do fighting games, Street Fighter (yes, the JCVD one) is the best video game movie adaptation ever.

Sadly, it's not the worst.

I... actually kind of agree. Maybe it's a 3D models vs sprites thing, but I feel like it was easier to judge distances and attack range in Alpha 3. Adon feels weirder in SF4

Haven't played any fighting games lately, but I'm looking forward to Guilty Gear Xrd. And also that Hajime no Ippo PS3 boxing game though I'm not sure if that's an actual fighting game per se. Might be a Punch-Out clone, though I'm fine with that too

Super Smash Bros is getting a release for the 3DS, might have to pick it up.

I remember being confused by Marvel vs. Capcom 2 because a lot of the Marvel characters did weird **** they couldn't do in the comics.

Are you saying wolverine can't do a super jump, float in the air, and create a giant electric X around his body? If you are, then you would be correct.

One Must Fall is my all time favourite.

Hopefully you mean One Must Fall: 2097 and not One Must Fall demo (with human fighters) or One Must Fall: Battlegrounds :)

Yes, One Must Fall: 2097.

Buying big ass mechas, upgrading them and beating other mechas with them. Awesomness.

I wasted a fortune in quarters on X-Men vs. Street Fighter back in the day.  Since then I've barely touched fighting games.  I'll occasionally play some Tekken or Dead or Alive, because I can do rasslin' moves with King or Tina Armstrong.  Also, boob physics.

I've always wanted to get into Bushido Blade for a long time. I saw the commercial for it when it first came out and I was over at a friend who had a cousin bring it over. Tried it out for about 20 minutes and thought that it was the coolest thing ever.
