You just need to log into your Uplay (and thus have to be online) to play or something? After installing you can leave it in offline mode permanently. I think I had to set a toggle in the Uplay options, but after that it won't even bug you about going online every time you launch it, unlike Steam. EDIT: I also had couple other issues, not sure if they still exist: 1) Game refused to install unless Uplay launched in Administrator mode, with no indication that this was a problem (Google to the rescue). 2) The save game cloud sync tried to connect and failed every time playing, forcing me to wait for a bit while it tried to connect before being able to ignore and play anyway, but then there's an option to disable that.
