Hey, one of the polish sites reports the post written two days ago by Michal Kicinski in which he says:
"Don't panic when you see announcement on GoG's site, everything will be clear on 23 September during CDProjekt's conference"
So I'm sure it's jus GoG ending it's beta stage, with assholish marketing campaign.

Damn... This is bad news (although it does make me glad that I've backed up all of my GoG games). :(

NeoGaf believes this is a stunt too.

If this is a stunt, it is a really bad one.

Heh, is kind of funny. The mention of the idea not dying is a bit of a clue for that.

Was going to finally get Castles II as well.

Does this mean that the abandonware they were charging for, will become abandonware again?

That's not really fair, they also patched it up, made it work with newer versions of Windows and gave you the soundtrack/concept art/whatnot.

And not all "abandonware" were really legally abandonware.

Not to mention abandonware itself being questionable at best.

Pretty much confirmed it's a marketing stunt.

Dammit. I mean, I'm happy it's not dead but they could have put it more elegantly. They've trolled me, the mother****ers.

I now feel very stupid for falling for it.

The mention of the idea not dying is a bit of a clue for that.

I did notice the 'not gone forever' & 'era' parts, but coupled with their Twitter message, in my mind I was thinking that meant they might be going to a "at least some DRM" model or something...

I am angry because of what they did. I hated it.

But I am also happy they're gonna be fine.

Can't decide whether I'll be angry or happy.

brb figuring it out.

I'm really glad I saw this via this forum, instead of just going to the site directly. I would have been gutted. As it is, it's a very silly thing to do, but provided they still provide a good service, I will forgive them.

Good news, GOG is awesome and I thought they were too popular to go away just like that, but that's a moronic stunt and I'll give them an earful when their forums come back up. Bloody trolls.
