But it's such a generic setting. :(

No. It's just that it became such a cult icon that its influence has been felt in sci-fi/horror works ever since.

"In space no one can hear you scream"

In Soviet Sega, scream hears you!

If I ever make a game, I'm going to make sure to have floor fog like this. Everywhere. Outside, inside, you name it.

It's really unfortunate that so many planets have ground fog that just barely covers up alien eggs.

I wish I had that fog in my apartment. Would help cover up the mess a bit.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Sega gets a new key executive who decides Obsidian can resume working on Aliens?

Ahh....wishful thinking.

There really isn't anything stopping SEGA from saying "Well AP sold well and we need games for 2011 Q1, so Crucible is on again!"

Yeah, weren't they saying something akin about Colinial marines? Something along the lines "If AvP sells, we will release CM afterwards as well".

I seriously do not see the point in making an Aliens RPG. Wasn't Aliens some terrible sci-fi action movie that tried too hard to be horror?

holy **** you could not be more wrong. dude, seriously, what planet are you living on?

Aliens is one of the best action films of all time, i personally rank it third behind 7 samurai, and yojimbo. I'm dead serious. It's one of the most critically acclaimed action movies ever made. Side note: Sigourney Weaver was nominated for best actress for her portrayal of Lt. Ellen Ripley.

You might not like it if you hate excellent movies or if you like anything by michael bay (except The Rock - that was pretty good)

also, aliens has been ripped off more than any other science fiction or action film barring maybe yojimbo. Don't believe me? watch the movie.

Aliens the original is a pretty different beast from its sequels and spinoffs.

AvP the movie was something Uwe Boll could have made...

AvP was a movie whose primary purpose was to move merchandise tie-in products.

The entire point of AvP all the way back to the comics was brand synergy.

I read that some of the Alien comics were written by the guy who invented Judge Dredd aka the best comic ever...really piqued my interest. Has anyone read them, are they any good? Do you consider them canon J.E.?

John Wagner's Aliens: Berserker? If it's the one I think it is, then ya, it was good, though you had to read a novel to get the whole story.
There were a lot of good Alien comics btw.
